Named after Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, the stadium has a capacity of 22,500 people. Al-Hilal, Al Nassr and Al-Shabab used to play their matches in this stadium before getting privates stadiums. In 1972, it hosted the opening ceremony for the Arabian Gulf Cup. In the 2011–2012 it became one of the first stadiums in the Kingdom to use electronic ticketing for the Saudi Football League.According to the World Cup file the current stadium will be demolished and a new one will be build near by the old location under the same name.

The stadium holds 38,000 people, and is the home ground of Al-Wehda. The stadium was temporarily used by Jeddah clubs Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli during the construction of stadiums in Jeddah, on account of the Mecca-based stadium's proximity to Jeddah.

Besides the football stadium the sports complex also includes other facilities such as a sports hall, an Olympic size swimming pool, a squash court, a track and field track and a youth dorm.
