The Second Battle of Mukalla refers to an armed conflict between al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and the Saudi-led Coalition. The aim of the coalition offensive was to disable the newly resurgent al-Qaeda Emirate in Yemen by recapturing its capital, Mukalla. The battle led to a coalition victory, in which the coalition forces gained control of Mukalla and the surrounding coastal areas.

Al Balushi is a tribal surname common in the Persian Gulf region, particularly Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. It is a nisba and is Arabized from the term Balochi, denoting someone who has Baloch ancestry. People carrying this surname trace their tribal origins to Balochistan, a region in south Iran and Pakistan located across the Persian Gulf. Their ancestors predominantly came from the Makran coast in the 19th century. The Al Balushi speak Arabic, while some also use Balochi or Persian. They are mainly Sunni Muslims. They are a populous tribe in Oman, the UAE and Bahrain.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">United Arab Emirates takeover of Socotra</span> 2018 occupation of the Yemeni island group during the civil war

On 30 April 2018, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) deployed more than a hundred troops with artillery and armored vehicles to the Yemeni archipelago of Socotra in the Guardafui Channel without prior coordination with the Yemeni government, causing the relations of the two countries to deteriorate. The initial deployment consisted of UAE military aircraft carrying more than fifty UAE soldiers and two armored vehicles, followed by two more aircraft carrying more soldiers, tanks and other armored vehicles. Al Jazeera reported that shortly after landing, UAE forces dismissed Yemeni soldiers stationed at administrative installations such as Socotra Airport and seaports until further notice, and the flag of the United Arab Emirates was raised above at official government buildings in Hadibu. On 14 May an agreement was reached between the UAE and Yemen which saw Yemen regain administrative control and Saudi Arabian troops also being deployed to the island.

The Southern Yemen clashes were a series of clashes in the city of Aden between the pro-Hadi government troops backed by Saudi Arabia and Southern Transitional Council forces backed by the United Arab Emirates. The Southern Transitional Council took control of Aden and Zinjibar.
