Al Slater is a former Canadian Paralympic powerlifter. He won the silver medal in the men's 82.5 kg event at the 1984 Summer Paralympics held in Stoke Mandeville, United Kingdom and New York City, United States. [1] [2] He also competed in several athletics events. [2]

United States mens Paralympic soccer team

The United States Men's Para 7-a-side (Paralympic) National Soccer Team represents the United States in international competitions. It is operated by the United States Soccer Federation. The team finished seventh at the 2015 IPCPF World Championships. They have competed at several Paralympic Games, including the 1984, 1992, 1996, 2004 and 2012 editions. One of their best finishes was in 1996 when they finished fourth. Their head coach is Stuart Sharp. Comedian Josh Blue is one of their former players.

Dylan Alcott Australian wheelchair athlete (born 1990)

Dylan Martin Alcott, is an Australian former wheelchair tennis player, former wheelchair basketball player, radio host and motivational speaker. Alcott was a member of the Australia men's national wheelchair basketball team, known colloquially as the Australian "Rollers". At the age of 17, he became the youngest Rollers gold medal winner at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, and was the youngest to compete in the wheelchair basketball competition. In 2014, he returned to wheelchair tennis with the aim of participating at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, at which he won gold medals in the Men's Quad Singles and Doubles. He was named the 2016 Australian Paralympian of the Year due to his outstanding achievements at Rio.

Oksana Masters Ukrainian-born American Paralympic rower and cross-country skier

Oksana Masters is an American Paralympic rower and cross-country skier of Ukrainian descent from Louisville, Kentucky. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, she won the first ever United States medal in trunk and arms mixed double sculls. She was also a part of the U.S. Nordic skiing team at the 2014 Winter Paralympics and the 2018 Winter Paralympics. She won two Paralympic medals in 2014 and five Paralympic medals in 2018, including two gold. She also competed in para-cycling at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Paralympics

Ben Tudhope Australian Paralympic snowboarder

Ben Tudhope is an Australian Paralympian who competed in para-snowboard cross at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi. His selection at the age of 14 meant that he became Australia's youngest Winter Paralympian, replacing Michael Milton. He was the youngest competitor at the 2014 Winter Paralympic Games from any country. He also competed at the 2018 Winter Paralympics.

The opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics is scheduled to take place on 4 February 2022 at Beijing National Stadium, China. As mandated by the Olympic Charter, the proceedings are expected to combine the formal and ceremonial opening of this international sporting event, including welcoming speeches, hoisting of the flags and the parade of athletes, with an artistic spectacle to showcase the host nation's winter culture and modern history. The Games are expected officially to be opened by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and president of the People's Republic of China.

The 2021 World Para Snow Sports Championships was an international disability sport competition held in Lillehammer, Norway from 8 to 23 January 2022. It was the inaugural edition of the World Para Snow Sports Championships with para-alpine skiing, para cross-country skiing, para biathlon and para snowboard being held. It was scheduled for 7 to 20 February 2021 but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The rescheduled event retained 2021 in its name.

Gino Vendetti is a former Canadian Paralympic athlete. He competed in para-athletics and in powerlifting and he won three silver medals and a bronze medal at the Summer Paralympics. He won a silver medal in powerlifting at the 1984 Summer Paralympics held in Stoke Mandeville, United Kingdom and New York City, United States. He also won the bronze medal in the men's 800 metres C4 event. At the 1988 Summer Paralympics held in Seoul, South Korea, he won the silver medal in both the men's 200 metres C4-5 and the men's 400 metres C4-5 events.
