Alaaddine Terro (born 1953) is a Lebanese politician who is a member of the Progressive Socialist Party and minister for the displaced.
Terro was born into a Sunni Muslim family in Barja,the Chouf district,in 1953. [1] [2]
Terro joined the Progressive Socialist Party in 1975. [2] He firstly won a seat from the Chouf district,the fourth district of north Lebanon,in the general elections held in 1992. He also joined the Democratic Gathering bloc in 1992 and has been part of it since then. [3] Terro also won the same seat in the general elections of 2000. [4] He was on the March 14 alliance’s electoral list in the Chouf district proposed by Walid Jumblatt,leader of the Progressive Socialist Party in the 2009 general elections of Lebanon. [5] And Terro won the election. [6] Then he was appointed minister for the displaced to the cabinet led by prime minister Najib Mikati on 11 June 2011,replacing Akram Chehayeb. [7] [8] [9] As a member of the Progressive Socialist Party,he is one of the three ministers appointed by the party's leader Walid Jumblatt to the cabinet. [1] In other words,Terro is part of the National Struggle Front in the cabinet. [10]
Terro is married to Fatima Al Khatib and has two children from his current wife,as well as one from a previous marriage. [2]
The Progressive Socialist Party is a Lebanese political party. Its confessional base is in the Druze sect and its regional base is in Mount Lebanon Governorate,especially the Chouf District. Founded by Kamal Jumblatt in 1949,the party has been led by his son Walid since 1977.

Walid Kamal Jumblatt is a Lebanese Druze politician and former militia commander who has been leading the Progressive Socialist Party since 1977. While leading the Lebanese National Resistance Front and allying with the Amal Movement during the Lebanese Civil War,he worked closely with Suleiman Frangieh to oppose Amine Gemayel's rule as president in 1983. After the civil war,he initially supported Syria but later led an anti-Assad stance during the start of the Syrian Civil War. He is still active in politics,most recently leading his party,the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) in the 2022 Lebanese general election.

Voting to elect eight members of the Lebanese parliament took place in Chouf District on April 7,1968,as part of the national general election of that year. Three of the seats of the constituency were earmarked for the Maronite community,two for the Sunni Muslim,two for the Druze whilst the last seat was allocated to the Greek Catholics. The Chouf District constituency had 78,557 eligible voters,out of whom 46,056 voted. All in all Chouf District was one of the most hotly contested constituencies in the election,being the home turf of Camille Chamoun and Kamal Jumblatt.
