Alasdair James Beckett-King [1] (born 31 March 1984) is a British stand-up comedian, video game writer, and actor from Durham. [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [ excessive citations ] He won the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year in 2017 and Chortle's Breakthrough Comedian of the Year in 2023.
Beckett-King is half-Scottish. [9] He attended York St John University and graduated in 2012. [10] [11] He holds an undergraduate degree in Film and Television Production and an MA in Journalism. [12]
Beckett-King was listed among the finalists of So You Think You're Funny in 2013. He was also among the finalists of NATYS: New Acts of the Year Show in 2014. [13]
Beckett-King won the 2017 Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year. [14]
Beckett-King has appeared on The Comedian's Comedian with Stuart Goldsmith and Unforeseen Incidents . [15] He co-hosts the Loremen podcast with James Shakeshaft [16] and Eleanor & Alasdair Read That with comedian Eleanor Morton. [17]
Beckett-King created the adventure games Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! , released in 2007, and Nelly Cootalot: The Fowl Fleet, released in 2016. [18] [19] He also wrote the script for the adventure game Unforeseen Incidents , released in 2018. [20]
Since 2019, he publishes comedy sketches, which are written, acted, produced and animated by himself, on his YouTube channel. [21]
In 2022, Beckett-King voiced the character of "The Floater" in Doctor Who: Redacted, produced by BBC Studios. [22] [23] He won the award for Breakthrough Act in the 2023 Chortle Awards. [24]
