The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League, and are the AHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Pittsburgh Penguins. They play at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre Township, Pennsylvania, just outside the city of Wilkes-Barre. They have won the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy twice for having the best record in the regular season.

The Baltimore Skipjacks were a minor league professional ice hockey team from Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The Skipjacks originated in 1979, and played as the Baltimore Clippers in the Eastern Hockey League for two seasons. The team was renamed to Skipjacks in 1981, and played the following season in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League. The Skipjacks then played eleven seasons as members of the American Hockey League (AHL), from 1982 until 1993. The Skipjacks were one of three AHL teams to have been based in Baltimore, including the Baltimore Clippers, and the Baltimore Bandits. The Skipjacks operated as a farm team to the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals for five seasons each, and were previously a farm team to the Minnesota North Stars for two seasons, the Boston Bruins for one season. The team played its home games at the Baltimore Civic Center, which was renamed to the Baltimore Arena in 1986.
James Michael Carey is an American former professional ice hockey goaltender who played for the Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins, and St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League (NHL). He won the Vezina Trophy for the NHL's best goaltender in 1996.

Langkow was born in Sherwood Park, Alberta, but grew up in Edmonton, Alberta.
Gary Daniel Rissling is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League for the Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins between 1979 and 1979. Originally signed in 1978 as a free agent by Washington, Rissling played there until 1980 when he joined Pittsburgh. In 1983 and 1984 he was awarded the Aldege "Baz" Bastien Memorial Good Guy Award in the American Hockey League.

The rest of his career, which lasted from 1989 to 2006, was spent in the minor leagues and then in Europe. He is currently the Goaltending Coach for the Minnesota Wild.
Mark Andrew Laforest, sometimes written as Mark LaForest, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He played 103 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Ottawa Senators between 1985 and 1994. He won the Calder Cup of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 1986 and twice won the Aldege "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award as the AHL's best goalie in 1987 and 1991. Since retirement, Laforest has appeared at many NHL alumni events.

Joseph Aldège Albert "Baz" Bastien was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender, head coach, and general manager. He played five games for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League in 1945 but spent most of his playing career with the Pittsburgh Hornets of the American Hockey League. He later became the Hornets' head coach and general manager and served in several front-office positions with National Hockey League clubs, most notably as general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins from 1976 until he died in a car crash in 1983.

The 1976–77 Pittsburgh Penguins season was their tenth in the National Hockey League. They finished third in the Norris Division for the third season in a row. In the playoffs, the Penguins were eliminated in the first round. Changes occurred in management and ownership. In December 1976, Baz Bastien replaced Wren Blair as the club's general manager. The club was sold to shopping mall magnate Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. in February 1977.

The rest of his career, which lasted from 1982 to 1991, was spent in various minor leagues.
