Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv, Ukraine, is an architectural monument of Kievan Rus'. The former cathedral is one of the city's best known landmarks and the first heritage site in Ukraine to be inscribed on the World Heritage List along with the Kyiv Cave Monastery complex. Aside from its main building, the cathedral includes an ensemble of supporting structures such as a bell tower and the House of Metropolitan. In 2011 the historic site was reassigned from the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Regional Development of Ukraine to the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine. One of the reasons for the move was that both Saint Sophia Cathedral and Kyiv Pechersk Lavra are recognized by the UNESCO World Heritage Program as one complex, while in Ukraine the two were governed by different government entities. It is currently a museum.

Ismailciuc also excelled individually in the C-1 1000 m event, winning the world and European titles in 1963. He retired in 1965 to become a canoeing coach.

Vasyl Yurchenko (alternate spellings: Vasily Yurchenko, Vasiliy Jurtzhenko, born 26 May 1950) is a Soviet-born Ukrainian sprint canoeist who competed from the early 1970s to the early 1980s. Competing in three Summer Olympics, he won two medals. This included one silver and one bronze.
Sergiy Bezugliy is a Ukrainian-born Azerbaijani sprint canoer. He competed internationally for Ukraine through 2008.
Ruslan Mirzoivych Dzhalilov is a Ukrainian sprint canoer who has competed since the mid-2000s. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, he was eliminated in the semifinals of both the C-2 500 m and C-2 1000 m events. The 2013 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships was held 29 August–1 September 2013 in Duisburg, Germany. The championships were awarded originally to Szeged, Hungary, but Szeged was moved to 2011 in the wake of Vichy, France's withdrawal in 2010 and awarded to Rio de Janeiro, who withdrew in September 2012. Consequently, the World Championships were awarded to Duisburg.

Dmytro Mykolayovych Ianchuk or Yanchuk is a Ukrainian sprint canoeist. He is the 2016 Olympic bronze medalist in the C-2 1000 metres event, the 2015 World bronze medalist in C-2 500 metres, and the 2015 European champion in C-2 1000 m. Ianchuk competes together with Taras Mishchuk.
Taras Viktorovych Mishchuk is a Ukrainian sprint canoeist. He is the 2016 Olympic bronze medalist in the C-2 1000 metres event, the 2015 World bronze medalist in C-2 500 metres, and the 2015 European champion in C-2 1000 m. Mishchuk competes together with Dmytro Ianchuk.
This article details the canoeing at the 2020 Summer Olympics qualifying phase. The 2020 Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Similar to 2012 and 2016 format, a qualification system has been set up for both slalom and sprint canoeing at these games. The quotas have already been set for each event by the International Canoe Federation in October 2018.
