Alex Edelstein (born January 17, 1969) is a high-tech manager and reality television participant.

Career

Alex Edelstein is currently a Vice President of Product Management at Salesforce. Previously he was the founder and Head of Product Development of The Fr8 Company, [1] a web service that integrates SaaS services such as Slack, Salesforce, and DocuSign. Previously, he created Servio (formerly CloudCrowd) a company in the crowdsourcing space that he co-founded with Jordan Ritter in 2009. Before CloudCrowd, he was a real estate developer and the head of Gemstone Development, which was responsible for the ManhattanWest [2] and Manhattan condominiums. [3] He previously held engineering and management roles at Cloudmark and Inktomi. He product managed the early versions of Netscape Navigator. [4] Additionally, he was on the original design team for Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook.

On April 2, 2009, he was featured on the reality TV show The Millionaire Matchmaker. [5]

Community

He has provided television analysis on both real estate [6] and high-tech topics. [7] He was on the Board of Directors of Kiva.org, a non-profit company that facilities micro-lending in developing countries. [8]

At BEA, Bosworth also developed the Alchemy intelligent caching framework in a team consisting of Bosworth and his son, Alex. Alchemy was a software layer used by Internet Explorer to communicate with a corresponding software layer on the web server allowing both upload and download data to be cached when the browser was disconnected from the network. Architecturally, this approach is similar to the design of the Google Web Accelerator although that product only performs server-side caching, rather than client-side caching.

Heroku is a cloud platform as a service (PaaS) supporting several programming languages. As one of the first cloud platforms, Heroku has been in development since June 2007, when it supported only the Ruby programming language, but now also supports Java, Node.js, Scala, Clojure, Python, PHP, and Go. For this reason, Heroku is said to be a polyglot platform as it has features for a developer to build, run and scale applications in a similar manner across most of these languages. Heroku was acquired by Salesforce in 2010 for $212 million.

The Gramercy is a mixed-use development project in Spring Valley, Nevada, west of the Las Vegas Strip. It includes two office buildings and 160 apartment units. Gemstone Development began construction of the project, originally known as ManhattanWest, in 2007. The project initially was to include condominiums, retail, and office space. Construction was suspended in December 2008, because of financial problems. ManhattanWest was sold in 2013, and construction resumed, with the project now known as The Gramercy. It opened in November 2014. An unfinished nine-story condominium tower was imploded in February 2015, as completing it would have been too costly.
