Lancashire Cricket Club represents the historic county of Lancashire in English cricket. The club has held first-class status since it was founded in 1864. Lancashire's home is Old Trafford Cricket Ground,although the team also play matches at other grounds around the county. Lancashire was a founder member of the County Championship in 1890 and has won the competition nine times. Lancashire has won 26 major honours in its history. The club's limited overs team is called Lancashire Lightning.
Hedley Verity was a professional cricketer who played for Yorkshire and England between 1930 and 1939. A slow left-arm orthodox bowler,he took 1,956 wickets in first-class cricket at an average of 14.90 and 144 wickets in 40 Tests at an average of 24.37.
Sydney Francis Barnes was an English professional cricketer who is regarded as one of the greatest bowlers of all time. He was right-handed and bowled at a pace that varied from medium to fast-medium with the ability to make the ball both swing and break from off or leg. In Test cricket,Barnes played for England in 27 matches from 1901 to 1914,taking 189 wickets at 16.43,one of the lowest Test bowling averages ever achieved. In 1911–12,he helped England to win the Ashes when he took 34 wickets in the series against Australia. In 1913–14,his final Test series,he took a world record 49 wickets in a Test series,against South Africa.
Durham County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Durham. Founded in 1882,Durham held minor status for over a century and was a prominent member of the Minor Counties Championship,winning the competition seven times. In 1992,the club joined the County Championship and the team was elevated to senior status as an official first-class team. Durham has been classified as an occasional List A team from 1964,then as a full List A team from 1992;and as a senior Twenty20 team since the format's introduction in 2003.
Robert Peel was an English professional cricketer who played first-class cricket for Yorkshire between 1883 and 1897. Primarily a left-arm spin bowler,Peel was also an effective left-handed batsman who played in the middle order. Between 1884 and 1896,he was regularly selected to represent England,playing 20 Test matches in which he took 101 wickets. Over the course of his career,he scored 12,191 runs and took 1,775 wickets in first-class cricket. A match-winning bowler,particularly when conditions favoured his style,Peel generally opened the attack,an orthodox tactic for a spinner at the time,and was highly regarded by critics.
Roy Kilner was an English professional cricketer who played nine Test matches for England between 1924 and 1926. An all-rounder,he played for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1911 and 1927. In all first-class matches,he scored 14,707 runs at an average of 30.01 and took 1,003 wickets at an average of 18.45. Kilner scored 1,000 runs in a season ten times and took 100 wickets in a season five times. On four occasions,he completed the double:scoring 1,000 runs and taking 100 wickets in the same season,recognised as a sign of a quality all-rounder.
Chris Old is a former English cricketer,who played 46 Tests and 32 ODIs from 1972 to 1981. A right-arm fast-medium bowler and lower order left-handed batsman,Old was a key feature of the Yorkshire side between 1969 and 1983,before finishing his career at Warwickshire in 1985. As a Test bowler for England he took 143 wickets,and scored useful runs in the famous 1981 Ashes series' Headingley victory. He was a part of the English squad which finished as runners-up at the 1979 Cricket World Cup.
James Cullum Tredwell is an English former international cricketer. A left-handed batsman and a right-arm off break bowler,he played his domestic cricket for Kent County Cricket Club and was appointed as County Captain for the 2013 season. He made his debut for Kent in the 2001 season,nine days before his first appearance for England Under-19s. He often fielded at slip. Tredwell was a member of the England team that won the 2010 ICC World Twenty20.
George Gibson Macaulay was a professional English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1920 and 1935. He played in eight Test matches for England from 1923 to 1933,achieving the rare feat of taking a wicket with his first ball in Test cricket. One of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1924,he took 1,838 first-class wickets at an average of 17.64 including four hat-tricks.

John Crossland was an English professional cricketer who played first-class cricket between 1878 and 1887. Crossland was recognised as one of the fastest bowlers in county cricket,but critics generally believed that he threw,rather than bowled the ball,a practice illegal in cricket. Contemporaries suggest that,but for the suspicions over his bowling action,Crossland would have played Test cricket for England.
Steven Kirby is an English retired first-class cricketer,and more recently a cricket coach. Kirby played for Yorkshire,Gloucestershire and Somerset,before retiring from playing in 2014. In 2020,he rejoined Somerset as their bowling coach.
Mitchell Eric Claydon is an Australian-English former first-class cricketer. Although he was born at Fairfield,New South Wales he holds a British passport. Claydon is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. Claydon most recently played for Sussex County Cricket Club. In July 2021,Claydon announced that he would retire from cricket at the end of the 2021 season.
George Puckrin Harrison,also known as "Shoey" because he was a shoemaker by trade was an English first-class cricketer who played fifty-nine first-class matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1883 and 1892. He also appeared in first-class cricket for the Players (1883),T Emmett's XI (1883),Lord Sheffield's XI (1884),An England XI (1884) and L Hall's Yorkshire XI (1891).

In domestic cricket,he represents Sussex,having previously played for Yorkshire and Hampshire. He made his Test debut in 2021,and plays as a right-arm medium-pace bowler.He made a comeback in test cricket against India in the 4th test at Ranchi after a long break from injury. Robinson holds the unfortunate record for the most expensive over ever bowled in the English County Championship,conceding 43 against Leicestershire in June 2024.
