Alexander H. Wells (died December 21, 1857, in Sing Sing, Westchester County, New York) was an American lawyer, editor and politician from New York.
He was born in Cambridge, Washington County, New York, as the son of Daniel Wells who had removed there from Hebron, Connecticut.
He was Surrogate of Westchester County from 1840 to 1844.
He published the Hudson River Chronicle at the village of Sing Sing, and the Troy Daily Times. In his papers he attacked the conditions of the prisoners in Sing Sing State Prison.
At the New York state election, 1848, he was elected on the Whig ticket an Inspector of State Prisons. He was in office from 1849 to 1851, but was defeated for re-election in 1851.

Ossining is a town located along the Hudson River in Westchester County, New York. The population was 40,061 at the time of the 2020 census. It contains two villages, the Village of Ossining and part of Briarcliff Manor, the rest of which is located in the Town of Mount Pleasant. Ossining is the location of Sing Sing maximum-security prison.
Sing Sing Correctional Facility, formerly Ossining Correctional Facility, is a maximum-security prison operated by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision in the village of Ossining, New York. It is about 30 miles (48 km) north of New York City on the east bank of the Hudson River. It holds about 1,700 inmates and housed the execution chamber for the State of New York until the abolition of capital punishment in New York in 1977.

Gerald "Gary" McGivern was a felon found guilty in 1967 of the armed robbery of a gas station in Pelham Manor, New York, United States, during which two police officers were wounded. McGivern was tried with his partner in the robbery, Charles Culhane, and was sentenced to ten to twenty years in state prison. On September 13, 1968, McGivern, Culhane and a third convict, Robert Bowerman, were being transported by two deputies, from Auburn State Prison to a court hearing in White Plains. During a rest stop along the New York State Thruway, a deputy's gun was seized in an attempted escape. During the struggle inside the police car, a deputy and Bowerman were shot to death.

Robert Patrick Astorino is an American politician, radio producer, and television host who was the county executive of Westchester County, New York from 2010 to 2017. He was the Republican nominee for Governor of New York in 2014. Tuckahoe marble is a type of marble found in southern New York state and western Connecticut. Part of the Inwood Formation of the Manhattan Prong, it dates from the Late Cambrian to the Early Ordovician ages. It was first quarried on a large scale commercially in the village of Tuckahoe, New York. Deposits are also found in the Inwood area of Manhattan, New York City, in Eastchester, New York, and extending southward to parts of the Bronx, such as Kingsbridge, Mott Haven, Melrose and Tremont and Marble Hill. Other locations in Westchester County include Ossining, Hastings, and Thornwood.

Janet Marie DiFiore is an American lawyer and judge who served as the Chief Judge of New York Court of Appeals from 2016–2022. DiFiore was born in Mount Vernon, New York, and graduated from Long Island University and St. John's University School of Law. As a practicing attorney, DiFiore worked in a law firm and in the Westchester District Attorney's Office. DiFiore then was elected a judge of the Westchester County Court, and was subsequently named a justice of the New York Supreme Court, serving in that post from 2003 to 2005. DiFiore left the bench to become district attorney of Westchester County, New York, in 2006; she stayed in that position nearly a decade, until Governor Andrew Cuomo nominated her to the New York Court of Appeals. Her nomination was confirmed by the New York State Senate. She started her term as the Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals in New York on January 21, 2016. She resigned on July 11, 2022, effective August 31, 2022, amid misconduct proceedings into her alleged attempt to influence a disciplinary hearing.
Peter Harckham is an American businessman and politician from the State of New York. A Democrat, Harckham represents Senate District 40 in the New York State Senate. He was first elected in 2018, defeating incumbent Terrence Murphy. The 40th district includes parts of Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties in the Hudson Valley.
New York's 36th State Senate district is one of 63 districts in the New York State Senate. It has been represented by Democrat Jamaal Bailey since 2017; Bailey succeeded fellow Democrat Ruth Hassell-Thompson after she took a position in the administration of Governor Andrew Cuomo.
