The South West Africa People’s Organisation, officially known as the SWAPO Party of Namibia, is a political party and former independence movement in Namibia. It has been the governing party in Namibia since the country achieved independence in 1990. The party continues to be dominated in number and influence by the Ovambo ethnic group.
Hifikepunye Lucas Pohamba is a Namibian politician who served as the second President of Namibia from 21 March 2005 to 21 March 2015. He won the 2004 election overwhelmingly as the candidate of SWAPO, the ruling party, and was reelected in 2009. Pohamba was the president of SWAPO from 2007 until his retirement in 2015. He is a recipient of the Ibrahim Prize.
Nahas Gideon Angula is a Namibian politician who served as the third Prime Minister of Namibia from 21 March 2005 to 4 December 2012. He was succeeded by Hage Geingob in a cabinet reshuffle after the 2012 SWAPO Party congress. He subsequently served as Minister of Defence from 2012 to 2015.
Vyf Rand is an informal settlement outside of Okahandja, located north of Windhoek in the Okahandja constituency of the Otjozondjupa region of Namibia. "Vyf rand" is an Afrikaans phrase that translates to "five rand". The name originates from the initial rental fee of five rand per month tenant farmers paid for a small plot of land on large farms in Namibia.

The is government department responsible for the administration of military affairs in Namibia. The polictical leader is the Minister while the Accounting officer is the Executive Director that is deputized by a deputy executive director. The deputy Executive Director heads the Department of Defence Secretariat and Administration. This department is made up of Six Directorates namely: Directorate of Education and Civil Training, Directorate Construction and Maintenance, Directorate of Finance, Directorate Defence Central Staff, Directorate Procurement Research and Development and the Directorate Defence Legal Advisor. All the Directorates are headed by civilian Directors. In exception cases Commissioned officers with the rank of Brigadier General can be appointed as Directors in the Department.

Helmut Kangulohi Angula is a Namibian businessman, politician and former cabinet minister. He is currently the director of various private companies, after leaving government in 2010, and a longtime member of the central committee and the politburo of the ruling SWAPO party.
Land reform is an important political and economic topic in Namibia. It consists of two different strategies: resettlement, and transfer of commercially viable agricultural land. Resettlement is aimed at improving the lives of displaced or dispossessed previously disadvantaged Namibians. Farms obtained by government for resettlement purposes are usually split into several sections, and dozens of families are being resettled on what had previously been one farm. Transfer of commercial agricultural land is not directly conducted by government. Would-be farmers with a previously disadvantaged background obtain farms privately or through affirmative action loans. In both cases, the "Willing buyer, willing seller" principle applies.

Evilastus Kaaronda is a Namibian trade unionist. He served as the secretary general of the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW). In April 2011, an investigation against Kaaronda was launched following allegations of misconduct; specifically, Kaaronda was alleged to have made unauthorized public statements which discredited NUNW-affiliated unions.

He was capped twice and scored once for the Namibia national football team, including a squad membership without actually playing at the 1998 African Cup of Nations. Philemon Malima is a Namibian politician and Chief of Intelligence Service of Namibia Central Intelligence Service. Malima has been a member of the Cabinet of Namibia since independence in March 1990 and have served as Minister responsible for various ministries since independence.
