The Algemeen Nijmeegs Studentenblad is an independent student magazine for the Radboud University Nijmegen. Founded in 1985 by members of the local student union AKKU, it is now published by the Stichting Multimedia.

Notable publications and controversies

In 1989 ANS started to publish the monthly comic strip DirkJan, before it moved to SjoSji. [1] The magazine has published controversial articles that attracted nation-wide media attention, such as on the benefits of marihuana consumption for studying. [2] In 2010 the University refused to distribute the magazine among freshmen because it did not endorse the editorial. [3]

Willem Johannes Maria (Pim) Levelt is a Dutch psycholinguist. He is a researcher of human language acquisition and speech production. He developed a comprehensive theory of the cognitive processes involved in the act of speaking, including the significance of the "mental lexicon". Levelt was the founding director of the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen. He also served as president of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences between 2002 and 2005, of which he has been a member since 1978.

Ellen José van Wolde is a Dutch biblical scholar. In her research she focuses mainly on the Hebrew Bible, applying achievements of semiotics and linguistics. Since the summer of 2021 she is Emeritus Professor at the Radboud University Nijmegen.
