Alhaji Idi Farouk (born 14 March 1949) is a Nigerian politician and former Director-General of National Orientation Agency (NOA). [1] [2] [3]
Idi Farouk born in Kano in early 1949, is a native of Dako Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State. He had his early education at CMS Primary School from 1955 to 1961 before enrolling at St. Paul’s College Wusasa, Zaria for his secondary education.
After his secondary education, he was employed at BP Supergas as a district Clerk and later transferred his service to Kingsway Stores Kaduna as a clerk and store keeper. In 1958, he enlisted in the Nigerian Air Force as an airman and remained in the service until 1974 when left the service and joined News-Lab Advertising Agency and Public Relations Consultant as a director. He was appointed permanent secretary liaison by the Kaduna State Government in 1983 and served until 1986 when he was appointed Chairman/Administrator of Kaduna Local Government Council where he served for a year (1986 – 1987) before being appointed permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information, Kaduna State. [4]
He served as the chairman of Kaduna State Constitutional Conference Forum in 1994 where he drafted the constitution for Northern Emirs and Chiefs. He was appointed commissioner for information, Kaduna State in 1994. In 1999, he appointed chief of staff to the governor of Kaduna State where he served until 2003 when he was appointed director general of the National Orientation Agency [5] [6] and served concurrently as a member of the Joint Intelligence Board, office of the National Security Adviser. He was Deputy Director-General, Obasanjo/Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization for their 2003 re-election campaign. In 2015, he chaired Kaduna State APC Governorship Campaign Council. He currently serves as Chairman Board of Directors of New Telegram Newspapers. [7] [4]

Alhaji Yusuf Sulaiman is a member of the traditional ruling family of the Sokoto Caliphate who was a civil servant before entering politics in Nigeria. The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections were held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but three elections were held on 18 March—concurrent with elections to every state house of assembly, three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections—while the Imo State, Kogi State, and Bayelsa State elections will be held on 11 November. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2019. All states have a two term limit for Governors which makes 18 incumbent governors ineligible for re-election.

Senator Uba Sani retained the office for the APC by a margin of less than 1% — under 11,000 votes — over first runner-up and PDP nominee Isa Ashiru, a former member of the House of Representatives.

Umar Dikko Radda — the former SMEDAN Director-General — held the governorship for the APC by a margin of 27% over former Senator Garba Yakubu Lado, the PDP nominee.
