A faux-streetwise poseur from Staines, Ali G speaks in rude boy-style Multicultural London English and brags about coming up "in da heart of da Staines ghetto" and leading a local street gang, "Da West Staines Massiv." He conducts interviews with unsuspecting subjects who do not realise they have been set up.

In the series, Baron Cohen plays three unorthodox journalists: faux-streetwise poseur Ali G, Kazakh reporter Borat Sagdiyev, and gay Austrian fashion enthusiast Brüno Gehard. As of 5 September 2022, his seven YouTube channels have collectively reached over 24.85 million subscribers and over 2.35 billion views; his two Twitch channels have reached over 8.87 million followers and 66.35 million views, making him the most-followed Minecraft channel on Twitch, as well as the 14th most-followed overall.

Created by YouTubers Dream and GeorgeNotFound, they roleplay alongside many fellow Minecraft content creators as fictionalized versions of themselves within a loose overarching storyline. Livestreamed by participants on Twitch and YouTube, it is the subject of one of the most popular Minecraft web series.
