Alibeg Alibegov (born 12 January 2001) is a Russian-born Bahraini freestyle wrestler. He has represented Bahrain internationally, competing mostly in the 61 kg and 65 kg weight categories.
Alibeg Alibegov began wrestling in his native Dagestan, Russia, and in June 2016 won the Dagestan Junior Championship (for wrestlers born in 2001–2002) in the 54 kg category. [1] He later changed his sports citizenship to Bahrain and began representing Bahrain internationally. [2]
In December 2018, he won a bronze medal at the Adlan Varaev Memorial Tournament in Grozny, Russia. [3]
In 2019, Alibegov won the gold medal at the Arab Wrestling Championships in Cairo. [4] He also competed at the Asian Junior Championships in 2019, finishing 13th in his category.
In February 2020, Alibegov participated in the Asian Wrestling Championships, losing in the qualification round to Korean wrestler Ji Hun Sun, 0–4. [5]
He won the gold medal at the Arab Championships in both 2021 and 2022, held in Sharm El Sheikh, in the 65 kg category. [6]
Alibegov placed third at the 2021 Junior World Wrestling Championships (Ufa, Russia) and at the 2022 U23 Asian Wrestling Championships (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan). [7] He finished 10th at the 2021 World Wrestling Championships, 5th at the 2022 Asian Wrestling Championships, and 10th at the 2022 Asian Games. [8]
In November 2022, Alibegov won the gold medal at the Arab Senior Championships in Alexandria, Egypt. [9]
