Alice Santos Igitol is a Republican territorial Representative of the Northern Mariana Islands. [1]

Santos Igitol successfully stood for election to the House of Representatives for Precinct 4 in 2016. [1] [2] She became one of only two female House representatives. [3] She serves as the chair of the House Committee on Natural Resources. [4]

He was impeached by the CNMI House of Representatives on February 11, 2013 and was scheduled to face trial before the CNMI Senate to determine if he should be removed from office. He resigned on February 20, 2013 after 7 years, 1 month, and 11 days in office.

2010 United States House of Representatives election in the Northern Mariana Islands

The 2010 Congressional election in the Northern Mariana Islands occurred on November 2, 2010 and elected the territory's Delegate to the United States House of Representatives. Representatives and non-voting Delegates are elected for two-year terms; the elected will serve in the 112th Congress from January 3, 2011 until January 3, 2013.

Same-sex marriage in the Northern Mariana Islands was legalized by the United States Supreme Court's landmark Obergefell v. Hodges ruling on June 26, 2015, which found it unconstitutional to restrict same-sex marriage rights. On June 29, Governor Eloy Inos hailed the decision as "historic" in a statement and said he would work with the Attorney General and local officials in the Northern Mariana Islands to bring the U.S. territory into compliance. Attorney General Edward Manibusan issued a memo on June 30 confirming that the territory is bound by the court decision, calling its statutes defining marriage between a man and a woman "illegal and unenforceable", and updating its marriage application to provide for same-sex couples.

Janet Ulloa Maratita is a politician from the Northern Mariana Islands. She represents District No. 1 in the Northern Mariana Islands House of Representatives, of which she currently serves as Vice-Speaker. She chairs the Committee on Health and Welfare for the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation, and is vice-chair of the Health Committee; she is also a member of the Ways and Means Committee. She is currently a member of the Republican Party. Maratita was appointed to the 17th Legislature in 2011, replacing Diego Benavente; she had previously served in the House in the 14th Legislature. At the time an independent, she sat alongside Felicidad Ogumoro and Teresita Santos, marking the first time three women were simultaneously members of the body.
