Alice by the Moon is the second full-length studio release from The Checks and the first released on their own label.
The album was recorded by the band in February and March 2009 at The Lab Studios in Auckland. It was released on June 8, 2009 in New Zealand and went to number 13 on the NZ Top 40 Album Charts. [1] The first single You and Me was released to radio airplay late in March, and a video followed in May. Alice by the Moon was followed with a string of sell-out shows over New Zealand, and also led to the band gaining major slots at both the Rhythm & Vines Festival on New Year's Eve 2009 and at the Auckland leg of the Big Day Out. The album was met with very positive reviews [2] [3] with one review calling it "Intoxicating, raucous and beautifully distorted". [4] The album was one of the five shortlisted for the inaugural Taite Music Prize in 2010. [5]

SJD, or Sean James Donnelly, is a musician from Auckland, New Zealand. His music is a mix of electronica, pop-rock, and soul. The name SJD also refers to Donnelly's touring band when not performing solo.
Goodnight Nurse was a New Zealand pop punk band formed in Auckland in 2001. The group originally began as a trio, but later changed to a four-piece prior to the release of their second album. Dimmer was the name under which New Zealand musician Shayne Carter recorded and played music from 1994. It began as an umbrella name for jam sessions and short-lived band line-ups, then home recordings, then an ensemble with various members and guests. This evolution led to more settled four-piece rock band. At least 41 musicians have been acknowledged as playing a part in Dimmer over 18 years, with Carter the only permanent fixture.

The Experiment is the first solo studio album by New Zealand singer-songwriter Dane Rumble. Released by Rumble Music and Warner Music on 29 March 2010, it follows two years after the split of his hip hop group Fast Crew. Rumble found it difficult to write music for himself, and therefore deviated to the pop rock genre. The Experiment includes elements of dance-pop and pop rap, and lyrically focusses on personal issues. Rumble produced the album with Jonathan Campbell. In July 2010 Rumble embarked on The Edge Winter Jam: The Experiment Tour, which had him perform in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
