Nasser Hussain is an English cricket commentator and former cricketer who captained the England cricket team between 1999 and 2003,with his overall international career extending from 1990 to 2004. A pugnacious right-handed batsman,Hussain scored over 30,000 runs from more than 650 matches across all first-class and List-A cricket,including 62 centuries. His highest Test score of 207,scored in the first Test of the 1997 Ashes at Edgbaston,was described by Wisden as "touched by genius". He played 96 Test matches and 88 One Day International games in total. In Tests he scored 5,764 runs,and he took 67 catches,fielding predominantly in the second slip and gully.
Vikram Singh Solanki is an English cricket coach and former first-class cricketer. In limited over international cricket,he played over 50 One Day Internationals for England as a batsman and occasional off-spinner.

The majority of these matches were for his county side,Somerset,whom he captained from 1894 to 1906. A. A. Cuthbert James "Pinky" Burnup was an English amateur sportsman who played cricket and football around the turn of the 20th century. Burnup played once for the England football team but is more renowned for playing over 200 first-class cricket matches,mainly for Kent County Cricket Club. He was named as one of Wisden's Cricketers of the Year in 1903.
Moeen Munir Ali is an English cricketer,who was formerly vice-captain of England in limited overs cricket. Herbert Tremenheere Hewett was an English amateur first-class cricketer who played for Somerset,captaining the county from 1889 to 1893,as well as Oxford University and the Marylebone Cricket Club. A battling left-handed opening batsman,Hewett could post a large score in a short time against even the best bowlers. Capable of hitting the ball powerfully,he combined an excellent eye with an unorthodox style to be regarded at his peak as one of England's finest batsmen.
Sir Francis Eden Lacey was an English cricketer,cricket administrator and barrister. Lacey played first-class cricket for Hampshire from 1880 to 1896,either side of the club losing its first-class status between 1886 and 1894;it was during this period that he captained Hampshire in 1888 and 1889. A prolific batsman for Hampshire,he scored over 2,000 runs for the county in 33 first-class appearances,which included a double century against Kent in 1884. As a roundarm slow bowler,he also took 45 wickets for Hampshire,including three five wicket hauls. He made additional appearances in first-class cricket for Cambridge University and the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC),amongst others. In a minor fixture against Norfolk he made 323 runs,which remains the highest individual score in second-class county cricket.
Steven John Mullaney is an English retired cricketer best known for his time playing for,and captaining,Nottinghamshire. During his 18 year career he also played for Lancashire and Trent Rockets along with representing England at the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
Michael Burns is an English first-class list cricket umpire and former first-class cricketer who played county cricket for Warwickshire and Somerset in a first-class career which spanned from 1992 until 2005. He also played Minor Counties cricket for Cumberland and Cornwall. An adaptable cricketer,he appeared for Cumberland and Warwickshire as a wicket-keeper,but when he moved to Somerset he developed into an aggressive batsman who bowled at medium-pace when needed.
William Nichols Roe was an English first-class cricketer who played for Somerset County Cricket Club and Cambridge University in the late 19th century. A right-handed batsman who could play aggressively,but with a sound defensive method,Roe was considered one of Somerset's leading batsmen of the era. He played without merit for Cambridge,and only achieved his Blue during his final year at the university.

Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field,at the centre of which is a 22-yard pitch with a wicket at each end,each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. Two players from the batting team,the striker and nonstriker,stand in front of either wicket holding bats,while one player from the fielding team,the bowler,bowls the ball toward the striker's wicket from the opposite end of the pitch. The striker's goal is to hit the bowled ball with the bat and then switch places with the nonstriker,with the batting team scoring one run for each of these exchanges. Runs are also scored when the ball reaches the boundary of the field or when the ball is bowled illegally.

George Alric R. Dewhurst was a Trinidadian cricketer who played for West Indies before the team attained Test match status. A highly regarded wicket-keeper,Dewhurst was an influential and popular member of the Trinidad and West Indian sides. In his later career,he improved substantially as a batsman. He toured England with the West Indies team in 1923 but missed the 1928 tour of England in controversial circumstances. Despite continued speculation that he would be recalled,he did not play representative cricket again.
