The All India Yadav Mahasabha is a caste-based community organisation established on 17 April 1924 to serve a broad body of Indian social groups collectively known as the Yadav caste. [2] [3]
The educated elite among the Yadavs instigated the formation of the All-India Yadav Mahasabha (AIYM) in 1924 in Allahabad, British India. It immediately engaged itself in two issues, appealing to its members in all regions to add Yadav to their names and at the same time launching a major programme to effect social reform.[ citation needed ] [4]
In the mid-20th century, the AIYM pressed the Government of India to form a Yadav regiment in the Indian Army, [5] [6] following the performance of some caste members in the Sino-Indian War at Rezang La in Jammu and Kashmir on 18 November 1962. [7] [8] [9]
The Rashtriya Janata Dal is an Indian political party, based in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand. The party was founded in 1997 by Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Ahir or Aheer are a community of traditionally non-elite pastoralists in India, most members of which identify as being of the Indian Yadav community because they consider the two terms to be synonymous. The Ahirs are variously described as a caste, a clan, a community, a race and a tribe.
Karan Singh Yadav is a former Indian politician who was a member of the 16th Lok Sabha. He represented Alwar constituency of Rajasthan, and was a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) political party. He also served as the president of Rajasthan Yadav Mahasabha. He was an INS candidate in the 2018 assembly elections from the Kishangarh Bas constituency. He had four brothers and sisters, and his father Ganpat Singh Yadav was an educated personality and was associated with the royal family of Bikaner. He died in 1989 due to cardiac arrest. Yadav's mother Sharbati Devi died from cancer in 1981.
Bhumihars, also called Babhan, are a Hindu caste mainly found in Bihar, the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, the Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh, and Nepal.
Yadav refers to a grouping of traditionally non-elite, peasant-pastoral communities or castes in India that since the 19th and 20th centuries have claimed descent from the mythological king Yadu as a part of a movement of social and political resurgence. The term Yadav now covers many traditional peasant-pastoral castes such as Ahirs of the Hindi belt and the Gavli of Maharashtra.
Thakur Kesari Singh Barhath was a Indian revolutionary leader, freedom fighter, and educator from the state of Rajasthan. He was the patriarch of the Barhath family, members of which participated in anti-British activities Barhath was also known as Rajasthan Kesari. He is known for dissuading Maharana Fateh Singh from attending the 1903 Delhi Durbar with Chetavani ra Chungatya, his Dingal work. Barhath founded Veer Bharat Sabha, a revolutionary organization based in Rajasthan, and co-founded Rajasthan Seva Sangh and Rajputana-Madhya Bharat Sabha. He wrote extensively about nationalism and independence, and wrote poetry in Dingal.
Gavli is a subcaste of the Yadav community, found in the Indian states of Maharashtra and Madhya pradesh. They are referred as Golla in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka. Yadava, Konar, Manyani Nair, Golla and Ahir Gawli are considered to be synonymous names. They are distributed all over Maharashtra. Although Reginald Edward has classified Gawlis as sub-caste of many different castes Ahir Gawli whereas Hanbar Gawli, Singaji Gawli and Lingayat Gawli are different from Yadav Gawli Ahir Yadav Gawli. Along with Maratha and Kunbis, Ahir Gawlis are considered one of the allied castes of Maratha caste and have been included in the Maratha Regiment in the past.
Gopa or Gop or Gope is a synonym of the Yadav (Ahir) caste. It is generally used as a title by the Ahir caste in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal of East India and even in Terai region of Nepal.
The Golla, also spelt as Goalas are a Telugu-speaking pastoral community primarily living in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with smaller numbers in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. This caste is called by separate names in different regions, namely Gulla, Gullar, Gollewar, Gavali and Dhangar. They are classified as a Backward Caste.

Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav, known with the honorific "Sher-e-Bihar", also known as Ramlakhan Babu, was an Indian freedom fighter, educationist, social reformer and politician. The half a century long political journey of Ramlakhan Babu, which started in post-independence era as a member of the Zilla Parishad in 1947, reached the pinnacle of becoming a Union Minister in the Central Government in 1994.He was elected to the 10th Lok Sabha, lower house of the Parliament of India from the Arrah, Bihar in 1991 as a member of the Janata Dal but joined the Congress in controversial circumstances which helped save Narasimha Rao Government in the 28 July 1993 no confidence vote. He was the Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers in the Narasimha Rao Government.
Upendra Singh Kushwaha is an Indian politician and a former Member of Bihar Legislative Council and Bihar Legislative Assembly. He has also served as the Minister of State for Human Resources and Development in the Government of India. Kushwaha is a former Member of parliament from the Karakat constituency in Rohtas district, Bihar and a former member of the Rajya Sabha as well. He was the leader of his own party named Rashtriya Samata Party (RSP) which merged into Janata Dal (United) (JDU) in 2009. Latter, he formed Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP), which also merged with JD(U) in 2021. On 20 February 2023, he resigned from all positions of Janata Dal (United) and formed his own party called Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal due to his political problems with JD(U) & Nitish Kumar.

Also known by the Initialism KLY, Khesari has appeared in more than 70 films including one Bollywood film, and performed as vocalist in more than 5000 songs. Apart from Bhojpuri, he has also worked in Hindi, Awadhi and Haryanvi languages.
The criminal Ashok Mahto gang, which was active in the Indian state Bihar, was led by Ashok Mahto and included Pintu Mahto. Ashok Mahto and his gang were responsible for the 2005 killing of Rajo Singh, a sitting Member of Parliament. Ashok Mahto was imprisoned but escaped from Nawada jail in 2002. Pintu Mahto killed three police officers during the prison breakout. The gang's leaders are said to belong to either the Kurmi or Koeri caste, and was supported by the backward castes in the Nawada and Sheikhpura regions. The Mahto gang was waging a war of retribution against the exploitative upper-caste Bhumihars. Mahto and his gang were responsible for the killings of a large number of Forward Caste people in late 1990s.
