The All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) or ANNISU (R) is the student wing of the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist, a political party in Nepal. It is also referred as All Nepal National Free Students Union-Revolutionary ANNFSU-R. [1]

Violence

MCC compact entered Nepal during the premiership of Bhattarai while a committee was formed during second premiership of Dahal to rectify MCC. During premiership of Bhattarai, Barsaman Pun was the finance minister while Krishna Bahadur Mahara was the finance minister during premiership of Dahal. Maoist leaders Matrika Prasad Yadav, Bina Magar, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Giriraj Mani Pokharel and Ram Bahadur Thapa were part of Second Oli cabinet which took MCC to parliament. At the time, they had given approval to table MCC. [3]

Party president Prachanda publicly maintained that the Millennium Challenge Corporation's (MCC) Nepal Compact could not be ratified without amending certain clauses. It was found that he was in favor of ratification as it was. [4] MCC later released the letter dated September 29, 2021, in which Prachanda and Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba assured MCC that the compact would be ratified within four to five months. [5] Major national newspapers criticized Prachanda's move, saying it would deteriorate Nepal's diplomatic strength and virtue. [6] [7]

They reported that it was dual nature of the party to both stay in government and protest at the same time for personal profit and vote swing. [8] This move was highly criticized by people and medias. [9] [10] [11]

The party chairman had given approval to table MCC while several fellow politicians stood in opposition to the chairman's decision. They called for protests even on streets. Many police were attacked. Trees were broken, the blocks of footpath were removed to attack police as shown in picture. The branches of trees were broken. [13] The Maoist cadets destroyed a boutique while the owner was saving police. [14] Government had to pay for the loss. Leader of opposition and chairman of Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), KP Sharma Oli of condemned the decision of Maoists to stay in government while destroying public property at the same time. [15] The Home Minister of Nepal, Bal Krishna Khand's and Prime minister asked the protesters to stay calm and not destroy public properties casing loss to the government and economy. [16]

Young Communist League, Nepal is the youth wing of Communist Party of Nepal. The president of YCL is Subodhraj Serpali and the general secretary of YCL is Ganesh Shahi. The Young Communist League (YCL) was formed by the CPN–Maoist at some point during the 'people's war' to support the revolution. Ganeshman Pun, Former chairman of the YCL, has stated that the League was reactivated in November 2006. According to him, the YCL "is a fusion of the Party's military and political character, and it is composed of PLA members who have an interest in politics." As the party's youth wing, its role is to "organise youth, be involved in events, conduct political awareness, and take part in development work as volunteers." Once the CPN-Maoist was proscribed, the YCL was also forced underground. After the April 2006 Jana Andolan and the subsequent over-ground role of the insurgents, the CPN-Maoist revived the YCL.

The Nepal Communist Party, abbreviated NCP is a defunct communist party which existed in Nepal from 2018 to 2021. It was founded on 17 May 2018, from the unification of two leftist parties, Communist Party of Nepal and Communist Party of Nepal. The unification was completed by the Party Unification Coordination Committee, after eight months of negotiation. The two predecessor parties subsequently dissolved, making way for the new united party. The party retained the electoral symbol of the CPN (UML), the sun.

Millennium Challenge Corporation's Nepal Compact is a compact between the American aid agency Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the government of Nepal. Nepal was the first South Asian country to qualify for an MCC contract by passing 16 of the 20 policy indicators used by the MCC. The agreement was signed in Washington DC in September 2017; then Finance Minister of Nepal, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, and then US deputy Secretary of State, John J. Sullivan, were present. This compact had begun developing on the request of Nepal in 2012 when Baburam Bhattarai was prime minister and Barsaman Pun was finance minister of Nepal.

Ram Chandra Jha is a Nepali politician of CPN. He is also secretariat member of the party which is the highest level committee in the party. He is also served as member of the 1st Constituent Assembly from Dhanusha-1.

The Second Federal Parliament of Nepal, was elected by the 2022 general elections on 20 November 2022. The elections elected 275 Members of Parliament (MPs), 165 for each constituency and 110 through the party list, to the House of Representatives. The parliament convened for the first time on 9 January 2023.

The 2nd Madhesh Provincial Assembly was elected through the provincial elections held on 20 November 2022. The assembly has 64 constituency seats in which members are elected through direct elections and 43 proportional representation party list seats. The term of the assembly is 5 years unless dissolved earlier. The first session of the assembly started from 2 January 2023.

Bhim Bahadur Bhandari is a Nepalese politician and currently serving as the Speaker of the Sudurpashchim Provincial Assembly since 17 January 2023. Bhandari is a member of the 2nd Sudurpashchim Provincial Assembly. In the 2022 Nepalese provincial election, he won the election from Bajhang 1(B) (constituency).
