The All Pakistan Federation of United Trade Unions (APFUTU) is one of the leading national labor and trade union centers in Pakistan. Founded in 1979 and officially recognized by the Government of Pakistan as a national labor center in 1992, APFUTU represents a wide network of trade unions across multiple sectors of the economy. Mission and Objectives APFUTU is dedicated to protecting and promoting the rights of workers. The federation strives to: • Ensure fair wages and job security • Improve working conditions and occupational health and safety • Advocate for social justice and gender equality • Promote democratic trade unionism and worker solidarity • Enforce anti-discrimination practices in the workplace Key Contributions • Bonded Labour Act (1992): After years of persistent advocacy, APFUTU’s efforts led to the enactment of the Bonded Labour Act, a milestone in the fight against bonded labor in Pakistan. • Global Advocacy: APFUTU played an active role in international movements such as the Global March Against Child Labour and the Million Women March, reflecting its commitment to ending exploitation and supporting gender justice. • Labor Policy Influence: The federation participates in government committees and collaborates with other progressive and leftist trade union groups, reinforcing its impact on labor policy and legislation.
