Nestor Primecare Services Limited also known as Allied Healthcare [1] was the UK's largest domiciliary care business and a leading provider of outsourced healthcare services to the English primary care sector. [2] In 2018 Nestor Primecare Service went into Creditors' Voluntary Liquidation ("CVL") and liquidators appointed. They immediately sold the whole of the business and assets of Allied Health-Services Limited and Allied Health Support Limited, to Health Care Resourcing Group Limited (CRG). [lower-alpha 1]

History

Allied Healthcare started in 1972, with a nursing home in Staffordshire. It now has 140 branches across the UK and Ireland. [4] [5]

Allied Healthcare was acquired by Saga group in 2011. [6]

In December 2015, Saga agreed to sell Allied Healthcare to Aurelius Group, [2] which describes themselves as a pan-European asset manager with offices in Munich, London, Stockholm, and Madrid. [7]

Nestor Primecare Services Ltd., registered in Stafford, is the legal entity behind the Allied Healthcare brand. It also provides Out-of-hours services. [8]

On 21 April 2018, Allied Healthcare announced it would seek a Company Voluntary Arrangement to protect itself from creditors due to a "highly challenging environment", through it would continue to operate without redundancies. [9] In November 2018 the Care Quality Commission issued a notice saying it had serious doubts about the future of the business and warned local authorities that they might have to intervene. The company said this was "premature and unwarranted" as they had secured further funding support. [10] It subsequently announced it was exploring the sale or transition of services to alternative providers, including the transfer of staff. [11] In December 2018 it was acquired by CRG a specialist healthcare recruitment agency, part of the Health Care Resourcing Group, based in Prescot. CRG [lower-alpha 1] took over all the existing care contracts, and they will continue under the Allied Healthcare brand. [12]

It terminated its contract for the out-of-hours service in Birmingham in November 2018. The service was taken over by the Badger GP-run out-of-hours and urgent care cooperative. [13]

In October 2014 Allied Healthcare, then owned by Saga, was ordered to pay the legal costs of Elaine Fernandez, a nurse who was awarded more than £80,000 by an employment tribunal in 2013. It ruled she was unfairly dismissed and suffered detriment for making protected whistleblowing disclosures. The tribunal said the company had pursued a "defensive position" that was "unreasonably hostile". She had raised concerns after Hywel Dda Health Board which commissioned the company to provide nursing care for a disabled patient decided to replace nurses with healthcare assistants. [14]

STAT Medical Staffing, Inc. was founded in September of 1988 in response to a national nursing shortage to provide per diem staffing services. The company changed its name to MEDCALL Medical Staffing Services Inc. in October of 1988.  

As the home healthcare industry evolved, the company expanded its services to include private-duty nursing and, in 1993, changed its name to Maxim Healthcare Services, Inc. and began to grow into the national homecare provider that it is today.

In 2007, Maxim Healthcare Services earned accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), recognizing the company’s commitment to quality in private-duty nursing and home healthcare programs. In 2011, Maxim created Maxim’s Caregiver of the Year program, acknowledging the dedication and excellence of their nurses and caregivers who best align with the company values.

National HealthCare Corporation is an American healthcare services provider. The company was founded in 1971 and is based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The services of the company include long-term diverse nursing and rehabilitative care to healthcare centers, facilities and hospitals in 11 states primarily in the southeastern United States. As of December, 2011, the number of the health care centers that are operated by the company reached 75 with a total of 9,456 licensed beds. As of December 2013, the company owns and operates 69 nursing facilities, 15 assisted living centers, 5 living centers with 38 homecare programs.

Out-of-hours services are the arrangements to provide access to healthcare at times when General Practitioner surgeries are closed; in the United Kingdom this is normally between 6.30pm and 8am, at weekends, at Bank Holidays and sometimes if the practice is closed for educational sessions.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Healthcare in Kent</span>

Healthcare in Kent has, from 1 July 2022, been mainly the responsibility of the Kent & Medway Integrated Care Board. Certain specialised services are directly commissioned by NHS England, coordinated through the South East integrated regional team. Some NHS England structures are aligned on a Kent and Medway basis, others on a South East basis and there is liaison with London to provide many tertiary healthcare services.

Healthcare in the West Midlands was, until July 2022, the responsibility of five integrated care groups: Birmingham and Solihull, Sandwell and West Birmingham, Dudley, Wolverhampton, and Walsall.

Healthcare in Essex is now the responsibility of six clinical commissioning groups: Basildon and Brentwood, Mid Essex, North East Essex, Southend, Thurrock and West Essex.

Healthcare in Yorkshire from 2016 was the responsibility of 19 clinical commissioning groups, which were replaced by integrated care systems in July 2022.

It comprises a range of activities, especially paramedical aid by nurses and assistance in daily living for ill, disabled or elderly people.
