Alok Kumar Rai (born 20 January 1976) is a professor of marketing at the Banaras Hindu University, India. Currently, he is the 41st vice-chancellor of University of Lucknow. [1] [2] He is one of the youngest vice-chancellors of Lucknow University. [3]

Education & career

Rai is a B.Sc. graduate of Allahabad University, MBA from the Banaras Hindu University, and PhD from VBS Purvanchal University. [4]

Alok Kumar Rai is a full-time professor of Institute of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University. [5] Currently, he is on appointment as the vice-chancellor of University of Lucknow. [6] He has also held additional charge vice-chancellor of Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya. [7] and Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra.

On 30 December 2022, Rai was given a second term of three years as the vice-chancellor of Lucknow University. [8]

In February 2023, he was given the additional charge as the vice chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow. [9]

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is a collegiate, central, and research university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India, and founded in 1916. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), before 2015 known as the Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), is a public collegiate university in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was established as the Uttar Pradesh Technical University through the Government of Uttar Pradesh on 8 May 2000. To reduce workload and to ensure proper management, the university was bifurcated into separate universities, Gautam Buddh Technical University (GBTU) and Mahamaya Technical University (MTU), with effect from 1 May 2010. In 2013, as a new government came into power, the university was formed again by combining the two on 5 January 2013.

Ramyatna Shukla, also written Ram Yatna Shukla (1932−2022) was an Indian scholar and linguist of the Sanskrit Language from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh and contributed to conserving ancient and Sanskrit texts. He was the President of Kashi Vidvat Parishad, a body of scholars and saints in India. He was also known as Abhinav Panini, named after Sanskrit philologist and grammarian Pāṇini. He contributed to inventing new methods of Sanskrit grammar and Vedanta teaching and modernization. He was the recipient of Padma Shri in 2021. He ran a program to connect the new generation with Sanskrit by providing free education.
