Alpha Male Gorillas (AMG) are an American multi-genre band from Newburgh, New York. Formed in late 2004, the lineup currently consists of vocalist and bassist Dave Heinz, vocalist and lead guitarist Kris Bluenote, guitarist The Don, guitarist and producer Anthony De Fraia, drummer Chris Trainor and keyboardist EZI. In 2006 the band issued their debut LP, Band of Bugouts, and enjoyed radio success from the single "Bleed Marinara".

In 2008, the band achieved success in the Bodog Battle of the Bands, winning the New York regional before losing in the finals. [1] [2] In 2010, AMG released its second full-length album, No Working Title. Both albums were self-financed by the band and produced by Jon Stern at Rough Magic Studios in Poughkeepsie, New York.

AMG released its first E.P. -- the E.P. -- on March 22, 2012.

On May 6, 2012, AMG opened for national touring act Candlebox alongside Sugar Red Drive at the Chance Theatre in Poughkeepsie, NY. [3]

AMG is set to release its 2nd E.P., currently titled Backflips and Burnouts, on July 11, 2012, when they open for Fuel. [4]

Style

AMG presents listeners with an inflection of multiple styles, traversing through areas of rock, blues, hip hop and reggae, with elements of psychedelic. The band coined the term "Heavy Mellow.". [5]

Bleed Marinara, Bodog Battle and No Working Title

In 2006, AMG released its first single, Bleed Marinara, which shot to success on YouTube and received airplay on radio stations such as WSPK, WPDH and WRRV. The song is an ode to being Italian.

In 2008, AMG joined a pool of over 10,000 unsigned bands to participate in the 2nd Bodog Battle of the Bands, [6] with the grand prize being a $1 million recording contract and a spot on a reality TV series on the FUSE Network. After advancing through preliminary rounds, AMG won the New York bracket and advanced to regional finals against other groups from Philadelphia and Boston. The band lost to All Grown Up in the finals. [7] [8]

In 2010 review of No Working Title, Thunder Roads Magazine said: "The style of music is not easy to pin down, however they have tasty influences that range from Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Cypress Hill, and even Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd." [9]

In January 2011, TheCelebrityCafe.com said of AMG's song Beach Bum: "Beach Bum tells the story of exactly who the title describes, living off the land (and water) in the most relaxed manner: “No money/no hurry/listen honey/I got no worries.” The irony is that writing a song about this might get you chicks, but actually living this lifestyle would get you arrested for vagrancy." The reviewer concluded, "I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this album to anyone unless they have an equalizer function that removes overdone pot references." [10]

In May 2012, The Don did an interview with The Soap Box, where he clarified that the Alpha Male Gorillas name comes from the True Alpha Male, Pauly Pizzwald. [11]

Cold is an American rock band, from Jacksonville, Florida, formed in 1986 by lead singer and rhythm guitarist Scooter Ward, drummer Sam McCandless, bassist Jeremy Marshall and lead guitarist Matt Loughran. Let It Bleed is the 8th British and 10th American studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released 28 November 1969 on London Records in the United States and shortly thereafter by Decca Records in the United Kingdom. John "Porcell" Porcelly, also known as Paramananda Das, is an American musician, best known as the guitarist for the 1980s hardcore bands Young Republicans, Violent Children, Youth of Today, and Judge. He also sang in Project X, and has had stints in other bands such as Bold and Gorilla Biscuits. More recently he has played in bands like Shelter, Never Surrender and Last of the Famous.

Tommy Stinson American musician

Thomas Eugene Stinson is an American rock musician. He came to prominence in the 1980s as the bass guitarist for The Replacements, one of the definitive American alternative rock groups. After their breakup in 1991, Stinson formed Bash & Pop, acting as lead vocalist, guitarist and frontman. In the mid-1990s he was the singer and bassist for the rock band Perfect, and eventually joined the hard rock band Guns N' Roses in 1998.

Projekt Revolution was a music festival hosted by Linkin Park, bringing artists of various genres of music together. Linkin Park started Projekt Revolution in the year 2002 with just one stage. Then, in 2004, they announced the Revolution Stage where the smaller bands/artists would perform.

STEMM is an American metal band from Niagara Falls, New York, United States. STEMM was formed in 1998 by Joe Cafarella. He, along with Louie and Jimi Penque, Russ Martin, and Alex Scouten made up the original lineup of the band. Alex left the band in 1999, and was briefly replaced by guitarist Fred Blackwell. Rich Spalla replaced Fred shortly after. This lineup remained intact until 2003. Joe and Rich merged with drummer Danny Nelligan, bassist Stephen Crowl, and vocalist TJ Frost of Buffalo band 5 Years Gone, to create a new incarnation of the band. This lineup also saw a change in the musical direction of the band from Rapcore to more of a metal act.

Hudson Valley Mall is an enclosed shopping mall located in Ulster, New York, north of Kingston, United States. It is the lone mall in Ulster County and is the only enclosed mall located between Poughkeepsie and Albany. Hull Property Group currently owns and operates Hudson Valley Mall. The mall opened in 1981 and has an area of 765,704 square feet (71,136 m2) on one level with 19 shops and restaurants as well as a 12-screen Neighborhood Cinema Group theater. The Bravery American rock band

The Bravery is an American rock band formed in New York City in 2003. The band consists of lead vocalist Sam Endicott, guitarist Michael Zakarin, keyboardist John Conway, bassist Mike Hindert and drummer Anthony Burulcich. They are best known for their 2005 top 10 UK single "An Honest Mistake" and their certified gold 2008 single "Believe". Before their initial split, they released three studio albums: The Bravery (2005), The Sun and the Moon (2007) and Stir the Blood (2009). They also released a remixed edition of their second album, called The Sun and the Moon Complete, in 2008, as well as an Internet live album called Live at the Wiltern Theater in 2010. Neurosonic was founded in Vancouver, British Columbia in February, 2006 by vocalist/guitarist Jason Darr, who was the former lead singer of Calgary's Out of Your Mouth. In addition to Jason, Neurosonic also consists of guitarist Troy Healy, accompanying vocalist and bassist Jacen Ekstrom and Tama endorsed drummer Shane Smith from former bands SNFU, The Real Mckenzies and David Ogilvy's, Jakalope. Neurosonic released its first album, Drama Queen on January 30, 2007 on the Bodog Music label, although the album was released in September, 2006 in Canada.

Divine Heresy American metal band

Divine Heresy is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles, California by founder of Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares and Devolved drummer John Sankey. Although the band's origins trace back to 2002, Divine Heresy was officially formed in 2006. The band currently consists of guitarist Cazares, former Vital Remains drummer and current World Under Blood drummer Tim Yeung, former Nile bassist Joe Payne and vocalist Travis Neal. Tommy "Vext" Cummings was fired from Divine Heresy following an onstage altercation on April 26, 2008. After holding auditions for a new frontman for the band, it was announced on August 14 that The Bereaved vocalist Travis Neal is to fill the position.

Thomas White is an English, Brighton-based songwriter, singer, musician, producer and visual artist. Along with their brother, Alex, they form the nucleus of psych-pop band The Electric Soft Parade. To date, they have released four albums and a six-track EP. They also contributes vocals and guitar to cult Brighton super-group Brakes, and drums and bass to Restlesslist and Clowns respectively.
