Alternate Forms is a 9-track remix record of the 2013 Son Lux breakthrough album, Lanterns . [1] It was released on August 11, 2023 by Joyful Noise Recordings, [2] and features experimental artists such as Sen Morimoto, Kishi Bashi and Sound of Ceres. [3] Since composing the score for science fiction action film Everything Everywhere All at Once , [4] this is the band's first new album. [5]

Mark Kramer known professionally as Kramer, is a musician, composer, record producer and founder of the New York City record label Shimmy-Disc. He was a full-time member of the bands New York Gong, Shockabilly, Bongwater and Dogbowl & Kramer, has played on tour with bands such as Butthole Surfers, B.A.L.L., Ween, Half Japanese and The Fugs, and has also performed regularly with John Zorn and other improvising musicians of New York City's so-called "downtown scene" of the 1980s.
Joyful Noise Recordings is an independent record label with headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana. The label was founded in 2003 in Bloomington, Indiana by Karl Hofstetter, who also played drums on many of the label's first releases. Joyful Noise maintains an active roster of over 30 bands playing various musical styles, though according to the label, each artist "in one way or another bridges the gap between pop and noise."

Le Noise is the 30th studio album by Canadian / American musician Neil Young, released on September 28, 2010. The album was recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Daniel Lanois, hence the titular pun. The album consists of Young performing solo, mostly on electric guitar with echo effects, distortion and feedback. The sessions coincided with the death of two of Young's longtime collaborators, filmmaker L.A. Johnson and steel guitarist Ben Keith, influencing some of the lyrics. Lanois also experienced a near-fatal motorcycle accident during recording. The album is the first collaboration between the two Canadians.
Kaoru Ishibashi, who performs as Kishi Bashi, is an American singer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter currently based in Athens, Georgia. He was a founding member of Jupiter One and, for a few years, was a member of the band of Montreal. He embarked on his career as a solo artist in 2011, releasing his debut album 151a at Joyful Noise Recordings in 2012 to immediate fanfare and critical acclaim.
Ryan Lott is an American musician. He founded the band Son Lux which has released five albums and four EPs. The band's most recent album Brighter Wounds appeared in February 2018, the preceding album Remedy appeared in May 2017. He is also a member of Sisyphus and has scored the soundtracks for a number of films, most notably Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), Mean Dreams (2017), Paper Towns (2015), and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby (2013). In 2020, Lott composed the soundtrack for the adventure game Tell Me Why. In 2022, Ryan released a course on designing sample-based instruments with online music school Soundfly.
Lanterns is the third studio album by Ryan Lott under the Son Lux moniker. It was released on October 29, 2013 by Joyful Noise Recordings. It peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, as well as number 6 on the Vinyl Albums chart.
Stranger Cat is the electronic music project of Cat Martino on the Indianapolis independent label, Joyful Noise Recordings. Martino has established herself by touring with many artists such as Sharon Van Etten, as well as long-time friend Sufjan Stevens. For Stranger Cat's debut record "In the Wilderness," the song "Sirens" was cited as "a bright, grand pop song born in the dark" by NPR's All Songs Considered.
Rafiq Bhatia is an American musician, composer, guitarist, and producer. He is the guitarist and fellow producer of the American experimental rock band Son Lux, having been a touring member prior.

Jonathan Wang is a Taiwanese-American film producer best known for Swiss Army Man (2016) and Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022). He is the long-time producing collaborator of the director duo known as the Daniels. Wang began his career in music video production and later pivoted to feature films with his debut feature Swiss Army Man, which won the Sundance 2016 U.S. Dramatic Directing Award. Since then, he has produced multiple feature films, including Everything Everywhere All at Once, which has become A24's highest-grossing film of all time, and for which Wang won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
