Illinois State University (ISU) is a public research university in Normal,Illinois. It was founded in 1857 as Illinois State Normal University and is the oldest public university in Illinois. David Francis Hardwick MD,FRCPC,FCAP was a Canadian medical academic and researcher in the field of paediatric pathology. Hardwick was involved with The University of British Columbia (UBC) for more than sixty years as a student,professor,and Professor Emeritus. His research included the first description of histopathologic implications of differential survival of Wilms' Tumors to pathogenesis of L-methionine toxicity and administrative/management research.

The National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) is an institute devoted to the education and rehabilitation of individuals with speech-language and hearing impairments located in Thiruvananthapuram,the capital city in the Indian state of Kerala. Hosmer Allen Johnson,M.D.,L.L.D. was an American physician,academic,and Mason from New York. Badly injured on the family farm,Johnson turned to teaching to support himself. After graduating from the University of Michigan,he moved to Chicago,Illinois,to attend Rush Medical College. There,he became an understudy of William B. Herrick and joined his medical practice. Receiving a Doctor of Medicine in 1852,Johnson was named Lecturer on Physiology at Rush,eventually chairing a department there. In 1859,he co-founded the Chicago Medical College at Lind University,which later became the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University. During the Civil War,Johnson was the top medical aide in the state,presiding over the Board of Medical Examiners for the State of Illinois.
George Frederick Sprague was an American geneticist and maize researcher. He was a faculty member at the Iowa State University and the University of Illinois and a researcher at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He is credited with developing a genetically strong line of maize known as Iowa Stiff Stalk Synthetic. A recipient of the Wolf Prize in Agriculture,Sprague was also a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
