Career
Boschini came to TCU after serving as president of Illinois State University from 1999 to 2003. At Illinois State,Boschini also was associate professor in the Department of Educational Administration and Foundations in the College of Education and taught a class each semester throughout his presidency. In addition,Boschini was a member of the board of directors of the Illinois Campus Compact,a coalition of college and university presidents committed to helping students develop the values and skills of citizenship through participation in public and community service.
Boschini led a major fundraising campaign while at Illinois State. It was also during his tenure the university established its first endowed chair. [1]
From 1997 to 1999,Boschini served as Illinois State's vice president for Student Affairs.
Prior to his tenure at Illinois State,he was associate provost at Butler University in Indianapolis,Indiana,and also taught in Butler's College of Education. He previously spent eight years at Indiana University in various administrative posts,as well as teaching in the university's School of Education.
Boschini serves on the board of the State Farm Company Mutual Funds,as well as on the boards of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and the Van Cliburn Foundation. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Brite Divinity School. In early March,2011,Boschini was elected to the board of trustees of the American Council on Education (ACE).
In a 2021 interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram,Boschini indicated that he plans to retire in 2026. [2]
Bernard Joseph White is president emeritus of the University of Illinois and professor emeritus of business at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. He is dean emeritus of the Stephen M. Ross School of Business and professor emeritus of business administration at the University of Michigan, where he also served as interim president, and Wilbur K. Pierpont Collegiate Professor of Leadership in Management Education. He is the author of The Nature of Leadership and Boards That Excel: Candid Insights and Practical Advice for Directors. Boards That Excel was named Governance Book of the Year for 2014 by Directors and Boards.
John D. Welty, a native of Amboy, Illinois, was the seventh and longest-serving president of Fresno State University before retiring on May 8, 2013. He was appointed president on July 29, 1991. Before coming to Fresno, he had previously served as president of Indiana University of Pennsylvania for seven years. Welty has a doctorate in administration of higher education from Indiana University.
Glendal William Poshard is an American educator and former politician who served as a Illinois State Senator and U.S. Congressman, serving five terms in Congress from 1989 to 1999.
Gary Allen Patterson is an American football coach and former player. He was most recently the special assistant to the head coach at the University of Texas. He is the former head football coach at Texas Christian University and the coach with the most wins in Horned Frogs' history. Patterson led the TCU Horned Frogs to six conference championships—one Conference USA title in 2002; four Mountain West Conference titles in 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011; —and eleven bowl game victories—including victories in the 2011 Rose Bowl and 2014 Peach Bowl. His 2010 squad finished the season undefeated at 13–0 after a 21–19 Rose Bowl victory over the Wisconsin Badgers on New Year's Day 2011, and ranked second in the final tallying of both major polls.
For over 60 years, the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) has helped administer the Fulbright Scholar Program, the U.S. government's flagship academic exchange effort, on behalf of the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Founded in 1947, CIES is a private organization with a staff of around 60 people supplemented by 300 voluntary peer reviewers, primarily academics. CIES is a division of the Institute of International Education (IIE).
The College of Saints John Fisher & Thomas More was a private Catholic liberal arts college that operated from 1981 to 2014 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Jack Royce Woolf was an American academic who arrived at Arlington State College in 1957 as dean of the college. After one year as dean, the Texas A&M Board appointed him acting president in 1958 and president in 1959. In 1967, upon the university leaving the Texas A&M System for the University of Texas System and with the accompanying name change, Woolf became president of The University of Texas at Arlington. Woolf resigned the presidency in 1968, but continued service to the university until 1989.
Richard H. Herman is a mathematician, currently Professor Emeritus of Mathematics, who had served as the Chancellor of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2005-2009. He previously served there as Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs since 1998. As provost he garnered support for, and administered, a “faculty excellence” program designed to bring established faculty to the institution. Over the course of his administrative tenure, sponsored research at the university increased by more than 50%.
John David Millett was the 16th president of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and first chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents. During his career, he served as the Senior Vice President of the Academy for Educational Development in Washington, D.C. Millett Hall at Miami University and an academic building at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, are named in his honor.
The TCU Horned Frogs baseball team represents Texas Christian University in NCAA Division I baseball. The Frogs have competed in the Big 12 Conference since 2013 and previously competed in the Mountain West, Conference USA, Western Athletic Conference and Southwest Conference. Since February 2003, the Horned Frogs have played their home games at Lupton Stadium, located on the TCU campus in Fort Worth, Texas. The Frogs are led by head coach Kirk Saarloos.
William Sterling Walker was a baritone with the Metropolitan Opera (1962–1980) whose singing career included performances at the White House, at Carnegie Hall and other concert venues across North America and Europe, and some 60 appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. From 1991-2002, he produced opera as General Director of Fort Worth Opera in Fort Worth, Texas.
John William Ryan was an American academic administrator who most notably served as the President of Indiana University for sixteen years.
Fieldon King Alexander is an American former university administrator and professor of higher education policy and finance. He was the president of Oregon State University, Louisiana State University, California State University, Long Beach, and Murray State University. He resigned from his most recent position as President of Oregon State University in 2021 after a faculty vote of no-confidence.
Dennis K. Kruse is an American businessman and politician. Kruse was a founder of the auction business Kruse International before entered politics as a Republican. He was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives from 1989 to 2004 and the Indiana Senate from 2004 to 2022, representing Senate District 14.
Michael A. Wartell is chancellor emeritus of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), where he served as the eighth chancellor from 1994 to 2012. His 18 years of service was the longest tenure of any previous chancellor. Prior to this appointment, he served as IPFW's vice chancellor for academic affairs for one year.
John Patrick Raynor was a Catholic priest of the Jesuit order and the twentieth president of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Raynor managed Marquette University from 1965 to 1990, which is the longest tenure of any president in Marquette's history. During Raynor's tenure, the university added several graduate and professional programs, including doctoral programs in biology, chemistry, English, history, mathematics and engineering.
The Lincoln Academy of Illinois is a not-for-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to recognizing contributions made by living Illinoisans. Named for Abraham Lincoln, the Academy administers the Order of Lincoln, the highest award given by the State of Illinois. Each year several persons are selected as Lincoln Laureates at a ceremony presided over by its president, the Governor of Illinois. The organization gives an annual Student Laureate award to one student from each four-year degree-granting institution of higher learning in Illinois, plus one student from the state's community colleges. Many prominent Illinoisans have received the Order of Lincoln.
Paul B. Marion, Jr. is an American university administrator and academic. During his long career in university administration, he served as director of higher education for the State of Arkansas, chancellor of the State College System of West Virginia, and presidents of the Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Universities, Franklin College in Indiana and Tiffin University in Ohio.
Hazel Vaughn Leigh was a philanthropist and civic leader in Fort Worth, Texas. As founder and longtime director of the Fort Worth Boys Club, she devoted her life to improving the lives of boys in Fort Worth and Tarrant County. She was the first, and for many years, only female director of a boys' club in the United States. Leigh was inducted into the Texas Women's Hall of Fame in 1993.
Anna Shelton was an American businesswoman who founded several women's clubs in Fort Worth, Texas, most notably The Woman's Club of Fort Worth. She was active in Fort Worth's park league, the Fort Worth Library Association, Mary Isham Keith Chapter DAR, and the Fort Worth Art Association. Shelton became one of Fort Worth's first female real estate developers and homebuilders.
