Wendy Wintersteen is an American academic administrator serving as the 16th president of Iowa State University.
Wintersteen received her bachelor's degree in crop protection from Eric Hayden in 1978, and began at Iowa State University the next year, working for Iowa State University Extension in eastern Iowa. [1] Wintersteen was one of the first women hired to work in integrated pest management for ISU Extension. [2] She earned a Ph.D in entomology from ISU in 1988.
From 1989 to 1990, Wintersteen was director of the National Pesticide Education Program. [3] [4] She became a professor of entomology at Iowa State University in 1996, and has also served as the director of the Agriculture and Natural Resources program and associate director of the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station. [5] Wintersteen was appointed the dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in 2006, and became the first endowed dean at Iowa State. [6] [7] She was one of four finalists to succeed Steven Leath as president of Iowa State University, [8] and, in October 2017, was appointed to the position by the Iowa Board of Regents, becoming the first woman to take office as Iowa State University president. [9] [10] Wintersteen's installation ceremony took place on September 21, 2018. [11] In 2019, Wintersteen's contract as president was extended by the Iowa Board of Regents through 2023. [12] In 2022, her contract was again extended through 2024. [13]
Wintersteen formerly served on the board of trustees of the Farm Foundation and was on the board of directors of the U.S.-Israel Binational Agricultural Research and Development Fund from 2012 to 2017. [14] She also serves on the Big 12 Conference Board of Directors.

Carrie Chapman Catt Hall is an administrative building completed in 1892, at Iowa State University which currently houses the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, and the Carrie Chapman Center for Women and Politics. The building is named for Carrie Chapman Catt, an American women's rights activist and founder of the League of Women Voters. She graduated from Iowa State in 1880 at the top of her class.

The 1972 Iowa State Cyclones football team represented Iowa State University in the Big Eight Conference during the 1972 NCAA University Division football season. In their fifth and final year under head coach Johnny Majors, the Cyclones compiled a 5–6–1 record, finished in seventh place in the conference, and outscored opponents by a combined total of 319 to 238. They played their home games at Clyde Williams Field in Ames, Iowa.
A. Dale Whittaker is an American academic and senior program officer at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He was the fifth president of the University of Central Florida. He succeeded former president John Hitt in 2018, but resigned less than a year later after an investigation of the university for “misuse or planned misuse of nearly $85 million in operating funds for construction.” He was later found to be not involved in the misuse of funds. The state also later reversed its previous rules regarding these types of funds.
