Alvin Hudson (born 19 August 1976) is a Canadian former soccer player who played in the USL A-League, Premier Development League, Brisbane Premier League, and Canadian Soccer League.

Playing career

Hudson began his career with Chicago Sockers in the Premier Development League, where he won two PDL Championship, and a Division title. In 2001, he signed with Chicago Fire Reserves, and appeared in 18 matches and scored one goal. [1] In 2002, he signed with the Milwaukee Rampage of the USL A-League, where he appeared in one match. [2] In 2003, he signed with Minnesota Thunder where he featured in eleven matches and recorded one goal. [3] In 2007, he signed with Vancouver Whitecaps, but was traded mid season to the Atlanta Silverbacks.[ citation needed ] On 22 January 2008, Atlanta announced the release of Hudson from his contract. [4]

In 2009, he went abroad to Australia to sign with Brisbane Wolves FC of the Brisbane Premier League. Throughout the season he was appointed the team captain, and led his team to the Grand Final Championship final match against Capalaba FC, and contributed by scoring a goal in a 2-1 victory for Brisbane. [5] In 2010, Hudson returned to Canada to sign with Hamilton Croatia of the Canadian Soccer League. [6] He recorded his first goal for the club on 5 June 2010 in a 2-0 victory over Montreal Impact Academy. [7] Hamilton would finish third in the overall standings with the best offensive record within the league. He helped Hamilton reach the CSL Championship finals, and featured in the quarter, and semi-final matches. [8] [9] [10] In the CSL Championship match the club faced Brantford Galaxy, but lost the match to a score of 3-0. [11]

Brantford Galaxy Soccer Club was a semi-professional Canadian soccer club based in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, with their home venue located in Hamilton, Ontario at the Heritage Field Turf. The club competes in the Canadian Soccer League, a league not sanctioned by a FIFA-recognized body. The Galaxy were formed in 2010 as an expansion franchise. In their first season Brantford recorded a milestone by becoming the first expansion franchise in CSL history to claim a CSL Championship in their debut season. The 2010 Canadian Soccer Leagueseason was the 13th since its establishment where a total of 24 teams from Ontario and Quebec took part in the league. The season began on Saturday May 8, 2010, and ended on October 31. Brantford Galaxy SC won their first championship in their inaugural season with a 3–0 win over Hamilton Croatia in the CSL Championship Final at the Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto on October 31, 2010. The CSL administration restructured the league by combining both the International & National divisions to form the CSL First Division with a single table structure. The regular season title was claimed by the York Region Shooters, while the Serbian White Eagles Res. won their first reserve league championship.

The Canadian Soccer League Awards is an annual awards ceremony for several individual performances at the end of the season. The event was established in 1998, when the Canadian National Soccer League merged with the stillborn Ontario Professional Soccer League to form the Canadian Professional Soccer League. The ceremony has been traditionally held at awards banquet at the end of the season with the exception in 2008, 2009, and 2010 where they were given out before the CSL Championship final. In 2010, the league began distributing awards to the Second Division for the first time.

The club ended their CSL campaign by claiming their third division title by finishing first in the First Division. In the postseason York Region faced an early departure after a defeat to Toronto Croatia in the preliminary round.

The 2011 CSL season was the 14th season in York Region Shooters participation in the Canadian Soccer League. The club ended their CSL campaign by securing the final postseason berth in the First Division. In the postseason York Region defeated division champions SC Toronto in the preliminary round, but were eliminated from the competition in the following round to Toronto Croatia. While in the Second Division their reserve team clinched a playoff berth after finishing third in the East Conference standings. Kadian Lecky was Vaughan's top goalscorer for the sixth consecutive time scoring a personal record of 15 goals.
