Alya Dawn Lewis (born 1980) is a badminton player and coach from Jamaica. [1]

Career

Aged 18, Lewis took part her first international competition at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, on 10 September 1998. [2]

Competing at the Jamaican senior level, Lewis paired with Nigella Saunders to win the ladies' doubles in 2005, 2006, and 2007. [3] She won the ladies' singles in 2010. [3] In 2011, she paired with Christine Leyow-Mayne to win the ladies' doubles and with Bradley Graham to win the mixed doubles. [3] [4]

Pairing with Garron Palmer, Lewis won the mixed doubles final in 2009 and 2010. [5] [6] [7]

Lewis was the number one ranking women's Badminton player in Jamaica for most of 2012. [8]

Between 1997 and 2010, she played 38 matches in her international badminton career, winning 20 of them. [9] Her most recent international match was at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. [9]

She completed the Badminton World Federation Level One coaching course.in 2014, [10] and worked as a coach and a manager for the Jamaica Badminton Association from at least 2013 to 2015. [11] [12] [13]

She had a successful partnership with Jwala Gutta as the pair has won many medals in international events including a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and bronze medals at the Uber Cup and the Asian Badminton Championships. They were consistently ranked among the top 20 in the BWF World Ranking reaching as high as no. 10. Ponnappa and Gutta also won the bronze medal at the BWF World Championships in 2011, becoming the first Indian pair and women and only the second overall to win a medal at the World Championships.

Christopher Thomas Adcock is a retired English badminton player. Adcock is currently sponsored by Yonex and YC Sports and plays for the University of Nottingham-based NBL team. He entered the National team in 2006, and later won the boys' doubles and mixed team titles at the 2007 European Junior Championships. He was a World Championships medalists winning a silver in 2011 with Imogen Bankier and a bronze in 2017 with Gabby Adcock. Together with Gabby, he also won a silver medal at the 2007 World Junior Championships, and then claimed the gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and 2018; and at the European Championships in 2017 and 2018.

Renuga Veeran is a Malaysian-born Australian badminton player. She has represented both Malaysia and Australia internationally as a badminton player. As part of the Australian Olympic Team, she paired with Leanne Choo and reached the quarter-finals in the women's doubles competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Leanne Choo is a badminton player from Australia. She is the reigning Oceania Champion in women's and mixed doubles. She represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics, alongside former women's doubles partner, Renuga Veeran. Choo also competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Kate Jessica Kim Lee Foo Kune is a badminton player from Mauritius. She began playing badminton in Mauritius at age six. Her first major tournament participation was 2013 BWF World Championships in China, where she lost in the first round of women's singles to Sarah Walker of England. Foo Kune represented her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was the flag bearer for Mauritius during the Parade of Nations.

Mikaylia Roanna Haldane is a Jamaican badminton player. Haldane was the mixed doubles champion at the 2009 National Championships with her partner Daniel Thompson. She was selected to compete at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. Partnered with Garron Palmer, she emerged as the mixed doubles champion at the 2014 Carebaco International tournament. Haldane also participated at the 2014 and 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games.

Katherine Wynter is a Jamaican badminton player. In 2016, she won the Jamaica International tournament in the women's doubles event partnered with Ruth Williams. She also won the bronze medal at the 2016 Pan Am Badminton Championships in the mixed doubles event partnered with Dennis Coke. She competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.

Ruth Williams is a Jamaican female badminton player. In 2014, he competed at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2015, he competed at the Pan Am Games in Toronto, Canada. In 2016, she won the Jamaica International tournament in the women's doubles event partnered with Katherine Wynter.

Susannah Leydon-Davis is a New Zealand badminton player. In 2014, she competed at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Gareth Andre Theodore Henry is a Jamaican badminton player. He competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games; and 2011 and 2015 Pan American Games. Henry was part of the national team that won the men's team bronze at the 2018 Pan Am Men's Team Championships. Partnered with Samuel O’Brien Ricketts, he clinched the men's doubles gold at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games.
