AmaderGaan was founded by Faysal Islam on 31 July 2002. [3] Safwan Khan joined later that year. Initially a website was conceived that would be a meeting place for discussing and sharing music. It provided free Bengali mp3 files in the absence of a proper legal system in place back then. Musicians and music lovers joined the community, including Maqsoodul Haque (Mac), formerly of Feedback and In Dhaka and musicians from Rockstrata, Cryptic Fate, Arbovirus, The Watson Brothers, Zefyr, RaaGa, and Artcell.
With Mac's assistance, AmaderGaan jumped from the virtual to the real world in 2004 with the arranging of a charity concert for Abdur Rahman Boyati, a folk musician famous for singing in the style of bauls and boyatis.
In 2005, the organization started a 24-hour online radio station in Bengali. AmaderGaan took up the cause of 35 solo musicians and bands to promote and host their websites. In 2005, music sharing stopped and the first online shop was set up to promote the legal purchase. [4] In 2006, AmaderGaan and New Age , a daily newspaper of Dhaka, began jointly publishing a biweekly chart highlighting sales of the top-selling Bengali albums. New Age published articles written by AmaderGaan members.
AmaderGaan.com later became inactive.
In 2006 AmaderGaan along with Sound Machine Ltd, a leading sound equipment sales and rental, audio and video production and musical event management company in Dhaka started a project titled .Loud (dot loud) to promote musicians all over Bangladesh and around the world via Internet and various other activities. Several artistes and musicians who became a part of the .Loud project received free web hosting space and domain from amadergaan.com with a 20% discount on recording costs and practice pads at Sound Machine along with official promotion of the respective bands. Habib Wahid is a Bangladeshi composer and singer. He works on modern pop music, EDM and a fusion of traditional Bengali folk music with contemporary techno and urban beats. He is called the modern music director in the country. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director for the film Projapoti (2011).
Fakir Alamgir was a Bangladeshi folk and pop singer. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1999 by the Government of Bangladesh.
Shayan Chowdhury Arnob is a Bangladeshi singer-songwriter, musician, painter, filmmaker, animator and producer. Arnob was the founding member of the indie folk band Bangla which stayed active for a decade before going into hiatus in the late 2000s. Arnob continued performing with some of the band members as Arnob and Friends. He also briefly collaborated with Prayer Hall, a Bangladeshi band.
Anusheh Anadil is a Bangladeshi musician, artist, cultural activist, and social entrepreneur. The band 'Bangla' was the first female lead band from Bangladesh that became iconically popular in both Bangladesh and West Bengal (India), for their first album Kingkortobbobimuro (2002). Their rendition of spiritual folk songs, along with their own original songs, became a revolution for bringing the sounds of the village bard into popular culture. They helped popularize the philosophy of Fakir Lalon Shai, as a breath of fresh air, to the urban youth. Bangla's second album Prottutponnomotitto (2005) is a tribute to Fakir Lalon Shai. The album questions religious extremism and corrupt politics by using songs of the insightful mystic. The band 'Bangla' inspired many young musicians from both sides of Bengal to rediscover their roots.
Momtaz Begum is a Bangladeshi folk singer and the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Manikganj-2 constituency since 2014 and Reserved Women's Seat-21 during 2009–2013. Referred to as "The Music Queen," she has recorded around 700 albums. Some of her notable albums include Return Ticket, Ashol Boithoki, Murshider Talim, and Ronger Bazar.
Nilufar Yasmin was a Bangladeshi singer of Nazrul Sangeet, Rajanikanta Geeti, Dwijendra Geeti and Atul Prasdi genre. She was the fourth of five Yasmin sisters of Bangladesh music. Her siblings are Farida Yasmin, Fauzia Yasmin, Nazma Yasmin, and Sabina Yasmin. She was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2004 by the Government of Bangladesh. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her performance in the film Shuvoda (1986).

Zulfiqer Russell is a Bangladeshi lyricist and journalist. He is currently the editor of the online news site, The Bangla Tribune. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Lyrics for the film Putro (2018). He was the winner of the Channel i Music Awards in 2008, 2010, 2013 and 2022 and also received the Mirchi Music Awards (Bangla) award for the Song of the Year in the Modern Song category for, "Shabuj Chilo". On 2020 he was awarded CJFB Performance Award 2019 as best lyricist. He had also worked with renowned Indian singers and composers including Grammy and Academy Award (Oscar) winner musician A. R. Rahman. He wrote the official theme song 'Ektai Achhe Desh' of the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh Independence sang by fifty renowned singers of Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi rock music, or Bangla rock music, is a style of music in Bangladesh that is derived from British and American rock music, mixed with the Bengali classical and Adhunik musical styles from the 1960s. The genre was introduced in the 1960s by a few bands who began developing a distinctive rock sound. Bangladeshi rock is commonly divided into two categories: East Pakistan rock, and Bangladesh rock. From the 1970s to the 2000s, it was one of the nation's most popular musical genres.
Black is the fourth studio album by Bangladeshi rock band Black. In 2009 Black announced on their official Facebook page that they had started to work on their fourth studio album and it would be a self-titled album. Work on the album properly started after Rafiqul Ahsan Titu (ex-Aashor) joined the band as the permanent bass player after Shahriar Shagor left the band. Black stated, they had plans to release the album on the Eid-ul-Azha of 2010, but due to other commitments of the band members and tight scheduling they were unable to succeed. After a few more changes of speculated release dates the band finally announced the official release date, August 21, 2011. According to the band, the album contains the heaviest possible music they have yet made. The first single off the album was "Aajo...", its music video premiered at YouTube in September 2011.
Warfaze is a Bangladeshi heavy metal band formed on 6 June 1984 in Dhaka by Ibrahim Ahmed Kamal, Meer, Helal, Naimul, and Bapi. They are one of the earliest heavy metal bands in Bangladesh. The band had numerous line-up changes since 1984 and since its inception, the band has released seven studio albums, one compilation album, and several singles. They have experimented with numerous sub-genres of rock and heavy metal over the years.
Tahsan Rahman Khan is a Bangladeshi musician and actor. He was the former keyboardist and second vocalist of the alternative rock band Black. Currently he is the lead singer of his own band ‘Tahsan and the Band.’
Bangla is a folk-rock band from Bangladesh. Formed by the popular indie musician Shayan Chowdhury Arnob, Bangla mainly blends the traditional Bangladeshi folk genres like Baul, Lalon together with western flavours like jazz, blues, rock etc. The band released its first album Kingkortobbobimurho in 2002. Over the years, the band has emerged as a prominent music group in the country and became one of the most sought after bands, especially among the urban youth listeners.
Gaan Bangla, also known by the acronym GB, is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language music television channel owned by One More Zero Group. Launched on 13 January 2013, it is Bangladesh's second music–oriented television channel. After Channel 16's closure, Gaan Bangla became the country's sole music channel. The channel is based in Baridhara, Dhaka.
Tania Ahmed is a Bangladeshi actress, model, choreographer and director. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film Krishnopokkho (2016).
Dhaka Attack is a Bangladeshi police action thriller film produced by Bangladesh Police Paribar Kallyan Samity Ltd., Three Wheelers Ltd. and Splash Multimedia. It features Arifin Shuvoo, Mahiya Mahi, ABM Sumon and Taskeen Rahman in lead roles. It was directed by Dipankar Dipon and written by Sunny Sanwar. The film was distributed by The Abhi Kathachitra and Swapna Scarecrow. The film won the "Best Film" award in 42nd Bangladesh National Film Awards.
Kanak Chapa is a Bangladeshi singer. She received the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer three times, for her performance in the films Love Story (1995), Premer Taj Mahal (2001) and Ek Takar Bou (2008). She published her autobiography Sthobir Jajabor in 2011 and a poetry book Mukhomukhi Joddha in 2012.
