Canoeing was a sport at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and was contested in two main disciplines: canoe slalom, which took place from 25 to 30 July 2021, and canoe sprint, from 2 to 7 August. The slalom competitions will be held at the Kasai Canoe Slalom Course; whereas the sprint events will be staged at Sea Forest Waterway.

They finished sixth at the 2016 Olympics. He also competed in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and won a gold medal in the Men's C-2 1000 metres event.

He competed in the men's 200 metre butterfly at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships. In 2021, he qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics in the 200m Butterfly.

Tunisia competed at the 2019 African Games held from 19 to 31 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco. In total, athletes representing Tunisia competed in all 26 sports held at the competition and they won 26 gold medals, 36 silver medals and 35 bronze medals. Tuva'a Clifton is a canoeist. Born in New Zealand, he represents Samoa internationally. He competed in the men's K-1 1000 metres event, K-1 200 metres event and K-2 1000 metres event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He made the team via the quota place for Samoa after achieving a time within the limit in a qualification heat.
