Amanda Merrill (born May 9,1951) is an American politician. She is a Democratic former member of the New Hampshire Senate from Durham,serving from 2008 to 2012. [1] She represented Senate District 21,which comprised Dover,Durham,Epping,Lee,and Rollinsford. Merrill served on the Education;Election Law and Veteran's Affairs;Energy,Environment and Economic Development;and Wildlife,Fish and Game and Agriculture committees in the Senate. [2]
Merrill lives in Durham with her husband,Kenneth Fuld,who is Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of New Hampshire. [2] They have two children,Anna and Sam Fuld,an outfielder in Major League Baseball from 2007 to 2015 and now the General Manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. They also have a grandson.

The 2010 United States Senate election in New Hampshire was held on November 2,2010,alongside other midterm elections to the United States Senate in other states as well as to the United States House of Representatives. Primaries were held on September 14. Incumbent Senator Judd Gregg (R) retired instead of seeking a fourth term,and was succeeded by Kelly Ayotte,who won the open seat by over 23 points. This is the last time that Republicans won a U.S. Senate election in New Hampshire. This was also the first open seat election in the state since 1992. With Democrat Jeanne Shaheen serving in the state's other Senate seat,New Hampshire became the first state in the union to be represented in the Senate simultaneously by two women of opposite parties.
Jeanie Forrester was Chairman of the Republican Party of New Hampshire and a former Republican member of the New Hampshire Senate,representing the 2nd district from 2010 until 2016. A businesswoman by trade,Forrester served on the Finance and Public/Municipal Affairs committees. The 2018 New Hampshire gubernatorial election took place on November 6,2018,to elect the governor of New Hampshire. Incumbent Republican governor Chris Sununu won re-election to a second term,defeating former state senator Molly Kelly. Sununu was the first incumbent Republican to win reelection as governor since Steve Merrill was reelected in 1994.
The 2018 New Hampshire Senate election was held on November 6,2018,concurrently with the elections for the New Hampshire House of Representatives,to elect members to the 166th New Hampshire General Court. All 24 seats in the New Hampshire Senate were up for election. It resulted in Democrats gaining control of both chambers of the New Hampshire General Court,ending the total control of New Hampshire's state government,that Republicans had held in New Hampshire since the 2016 state elections.
