Amanda Mariah Stuck (born December 16,1982) is an American politician. A Democrat,she was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2015 to 2021,and was an unsuccessful candidate for United States House of Representatives in 2020.
Stuck was born on December 16,1982,in Appleton,Wisconsin,and attended Appleton North High School. [1] She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Master of Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh.
Stuck was a rural mail carrier and worked at the Appleton Housing Authority. [2] She was also an aide to former Congressman Steve Kagen. [3]
On November 4,2014,Stuck was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly as a Democrat,succeeding Penny Bernard Schaber. [4] In 2016 and 2018 Stuck ran unopposed for re-election. [5]
In July 2019,Stuck announced her intentions to run for Wisconsin's 8th congressional district against Mike Gallagher in the 2020 election. Stuck won the Democratic primary,but lost to Gallagher in the November general election. [6] [7]
Gwendolynne Sophia Moore is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for Wisconsin's 4th congressional district since 2005. In 2016,Moore was elected to serve as caucus whip of the Congressional Black Caucus for the 115th United States Congress. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Her district is based in Milwaukee and as a result of the 2011 redistricting also includes some Milwaukee County suburbs:Bayside,Brown Deer,Cudahy,Fox Point,Glendale,St. Francis,South Milwaukee,West Milwaukee,Shorewood,and Whitefish Bay. Moore is the first woman to represent the district and the second woman after Tammy Baldwin and the first African American elected to Congress from Wisconsin.
Alice Constandina "Dina" Titus is an American politician who has been the United States representative for Nevada's 1st congressional district since 2013. She served as the U.S. representative for Nevada's 3rd congressional district from 2009 to 2011,when she was defeated by Joe Heck. Titus is a member of the Democratic Party. She served in the Nevada Senate and was its minority leader from 1993 to 2009. Before her election to Congress,Titus was a professor of political science at the University of Nevada,Las Vegas (UNLV). She was the Democratic nominee for governor of Nevada in 2006.
Wisconsin's 8th congressional district is a congressional district of the United States House of Representatives in northeastern Wisconsin. It has been represented by Republican Tony Wied since November 12,2024. It was previously vacant from April 24,2024,following the effective date of the resignation of Mike Gallagher,a Republican. Gallagher won the open seat vacated by Reid Ribble who retired in 2016. It is also one of only two congressional districts to ever elect a Catholic priest,in the case of Wisconsin’s 8th,Robert John Cornell.
