Prakash Amte Indian medical doctor and social worker

Prakash Baba Amte is a social worker from Maharashtra, India. Amte and his wife, Mandakini Amte, were awarded the Magsaysay Award for 'Community Leadership' in 2008 for their philanthropic work in the form of the Lok Biradari Prakalp amongst the Madia Gonds in the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra and the neighbouring states of Telangana and Madhya Pradesh. In November 2019 he was awarded with ICMR Lifetime Achievement Award by Bill Gates.

Lok Biradari Prakalp (LBP) is a social project of the Maharogi Sewa Samiti, Warora involving a hospital, a school and an animal orphanage. It was started on 23 December 1973, by the social worker Baba Amte for integrated development of Madia Gond. It is in Hemalkasa, Bhamragad taluka in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra, India.

Marcelline Jayakody

Fr. Marcelline Jayakody was a Sri Lankan Catholic priest, musician, lyricist, author, journalist and an exponent of indigenous culture. He is attributed with the epithet 'පන්සලේ පියතුමා'. Ven. Dr. Ittapane Dhammalankara Thera authored a book on Jayakody's life, මල් පැලේ උපන් පන්සලේ පියතුමා,, which is recorded as the first book in the world by a Buddhist prelate on a Catholic priest.

Charimaya ("Anu") Tamang is a recipient of the Hero Acting to End Modern-Day Slavery Award 2011, founder of Shakti Samuha which has been awarded with Ramon Magsaysay Award 2013. She was sold to India when she was 16 years to work in brothel as a sex worker. She spent 22 months in a brothel before the Indian government rescued her along with over 200 other Nepali women in 1996. Upon her return to Nepal, Tamang was ostracised by her community. Later in 2000, Tamang and 15 other survivors established Shakti Samuha, an anti-trafficking NGO.
