American Prize for Design

The American Prize for Design was established in 2016 and is awarded annually by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in collaboration with the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies within the context of the Good Design Awards. The prize is presented to a distinguished designer in the fields of industrial design, visual communication and graphic design in terms of excellence and further innovation along with the contribution of design in the quality of everyday life.

Past recipients include Gorden Wagener, Mercedes-Benz Chief Designer and Executive Vice President at Daimler AG (2016), [1] Sir Norman Foster (2018), [2] Flavio Manzoni (2019), [3] and Karim Rashid (2020). [4]

Hannah Beachler is an American production designer. The first African-American to win the Academy Award for Best Production Design, she is known for her Afrofuturist design direction of Marvel Studios film series Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Beachler has been involved in numerous projects directed by Beyoncé, including Lemonade and Black Is King.

Belgrade Design Week is a one-week design festival held once a year in Belgrade, Serbia. First held in 2005, the festival is organized every spring and is the largest design initiative in South-Eastern Europe. The festival covers architecture, design, fashion, publishing, and new media, as well as related fields like communications, marketing, advertising, and arts management. The event includes design labs, competitions, and presentations from international speakers like Karim Rashid and Daniel Libeskind.

Nienkämper is a furniture manufacturer founded by Klaus Nienkämper in 1968. The North American company operates a 120,000-square-foot factory in Toronto's east end that produces furniture for office, residential, institutional and hospitality applications with showrooms in Toronto, New York, Chicago and Dallas.

Samuel Ross is a British fashion designer, creative director and artist.
