Amit Kumar Chakma (1984-2023) was an Indian politician and the former Chief Executive Member [1] [2] of the Chakma Autonomous District Council,an autonomous region in Mizoram from 6 November 2017 to 21 March 2018.
Chakma was first elected as an MDC in 2013 from Rengkashya constituency on an INC ticket. He was again re-elected in 2018 from same constituency. After switching over to Mizo National Front (MNF),he was denied ticket and then he had joined the BJP in 2023 which chose him as its official candidate from Rengkashya constituency.
Amit Kumar Chakma was born to Late Balabadra Chakma,a resident of Rengkashya under Chakma Autonomous District Council. He was the president of the Chakma District Congress Committee from 6 November 2017 to 21 March 2018. [3]
Amit Kumar Chakma was killed by his political opponent Prema Ranjan Chakma,official MNF candidate and his brother Chitra Ranjan Chakma,who later died in a car accident within a year of the shocking incident;with aides Rupayan Chakma,his nephew and notorious Ananta Jivon Chakma on 4th May 2023 at Lokkisury village while he was in election campaign. Maraland Democratic Front was a regional political party in the Indian state of Mizoram. The party was active amongst the Mara people in the southern part of the state. The party had run the Mara Autonomous District Council together with Indian National Congress in the previous term.
The Mizo National Front is a regional political party in Mizoram,India. Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) is one of the three Autonomous District Councils within Mizoram state of India. It covers Siaha subdivision and Tipa subdivision of Siaha district. Primarily,an autonomous administrative government meant for the Mara people living in the state. It is situated at the southern tip of Mizoram state bordering Myanmar. He was a Member of Parliament of the 17th Lok Sabha,the lower house of the Indian Parliament,elected from the only seat of the Mizoram constituency. He won over Lalnghinglova Hmar,an independent candidate,and other candidates Nirupam Chakma of the BJP,T. B.C. Lalvenchhunga of the PRISM,and independent candidates —Lal Hriatrenga Chhangte and Lalthlamuani by getting a total vote 223,509 (44.99%).
Radha Charan Debbarma is an Indian politician who served as the Chief Executive Member of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council from May 2015 to May 2020. He is a member of Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the current General Secretary of GMP the tribal wing of the party. Debbarma was Executive Member of TTAADC from 2005 to 2015. Debbarma's term expired on 17 May 2020 and following the postponement of elections a result of the global coronavirus pandemic,TTAADC is currently under Governor's rule.
