The Indian Police Service is a civil service under the All India Services. It replaced the Imperial Police in 1948,a year after India became independent from the British Raj.
The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is the administrative arm of the All India Services of Government of India. Considered the premier civil service of India,the IAS is one of the three arms of the All India Services along with the Indian Police Service and the Indian Forest Service. Members of these three services serve the Government of India as well as the individual states. IAS officers are also deployed to various government establishments such as constitutional bodies,staff &line agencies,auxiliary bodies,public sector undertakings,regulatory bodies,statutory bodies and autonomous bodies.
The All India Services (AIS) comprises two of the union civil services group 'A' gazetted designations known as Indian Administrative Service and Indian Police Service and one of the union natural resources services group 'A' gazetted designations known as the Indian Forest Service. A unique feature of the All India Services is that the members of these services are recruited by the centre,but their services are placed under various State cadres,and they have the ability to serve both under the State and under the centre. Because of the federal polity of the country,this is considered one of the tools that makes union government stronger than state governments. Officers of these three services comply to the All India Services Rules relating to pay,conduct,leave,various allowances etc.
The Delhi Police (DP) is the law enforcement agency for the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT). Delhi Police comes under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA),Government of India. In 2015,sanctioned strength of Delhi Police was 84,536 (including I.R. Battalions) making it one of the largest metropolitan police forces in the world. About 25% of Delhi Police strength is earmarked for VIP security.
Krishan Kant Paul is a former Indian Police Service officer,who served as the Commissioner of Police,Delhi from February 2004 to July 2007. Following his retirement from the IPS,he served as the Governor of several states—Meghalaya (2013–15),Manipur (2014-15) and Uttarakhand (2015–18). He had also held the governorships of Mizoram and Nagaland briefly,as additional charges.

Sreelekha is also an author and now running a successful YouTube channel- “Sasneham Sreelekha”(With Love,Sreelekha) to share her experiences as a police officer. She has also served as managing director for public sector organisations in Kerala. During her tenure in the CBI,she earned the nickname of 'Raid Sreelekha'.

He is a Member of Parliament (MP) since 2014,representing Baghpat constituency,Uttar Pradesh in the 16th Lok Sabha and then retaining his seat in 2019 elections. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Bhim Sain Bassi or more commonly B.S. Bassi is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and has served as a member of the Union Public Service Commission since 31 May 2016 to February 2021. He served as the Commissioner of Police,Delhi from August 2013 to February 2016. He previously served as the Special Commissioner of Police (Administration) of Delhi Police (2012–13),Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) of Delhi Police (2011-2012),Director General of Police of Goa Police (2009-2011) and Inspector General of Police of Chandigarh Police (2000-2002).
Neeraj Kumar is a former Commissioner of Delhi Police who retired from the Indian Police Service (IPS) on 31 July 2013. Neeraj Kumar belonged to 1976 batch and AGMUT cadre and has recently completed his tenure as the Chief Advisor to the BCCI for their Anti Corruption &Security Unit (ACSU).
Ahmed Javed is a retired Indian police officer and civil servant who was the 39th Commissioner of Police,Mumbai,India. He was succeeded by Dattatray Padsalgikar. He is former Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Javed is the second former Mumbai police commissioner to get a diplomatic posting after J. F. Ribeiro who served as Indian ambassador to Romania between 1989–1993.

Arup Patnaik is a retired Indian Police Service officer who was the 36th Police Commissioner of Mumbai. He is revered as one of the most dynamic and respected IPS officers of the Maharashtra cadre. He retired on 30 September 2015 after a distinguished career in the Maharashtra Police spanning over 36 years in service. He is a recipient of the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2003 and the Indian Police Medal for meritorious services in 1994. Known for his integrity and fearlessness,Patnaik is the first and only Odia IPS officer to hold the post of Police Commissioner of Mumbai.

Alok Kumar Verma is a former Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation in India,who also served as Commissioner of Delhi Police and Director General of Tihar Jail. A 1979 batch IPS officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories cadre,Verma has over 39 years of experience in the Indian Police Service (IPS).

Pramod Kumar Thakur or P. K. Thakur,is a retired Indian Police Service (I.P.S.) officer of Bihar state in India,currently serving as Information commissioner in the state of Bihar. He served as Director General of Police of Bihar Police from June 2014 until his retirement in February 2018. He belongs to the I.P.S. batch of 1980. He has also served as Director General in Bihar. He was awarded with National Security Guard Disc for his outstanding work in the Central Police Organization as Inspector General (Administration). He was appointed on the post of Information commissioner of Bihar State Information Commission in October 2018.
Rakesh Asthana is a retired Indian police office from the Indian Police Service (IPS). He was on the 1984 batch of Gujarat cadre who served as the Special Director at the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI). In July 2021,he was appointed as Police Commissioner of Delhi. He retired on 31 July 2022 after an extension of 1 year.

Nidigattu Sanjay,better known as N. Sanjay,is a Silver jubilee 1996-batch Regular Recruit (RR) Indian Police Service Officer belonging to Andhra Pradesh cadre. He has a good record in police force. Since 2017,he has been Director of Andhra Pradesh Police Academy in Anantapur,until it was moved to Mangalagiri. On 27 January 2021,he was promoted to the rank of Additional Director General of Police.
