Amzy Babatunde Lawrence (born November 23, 1996), Known professionally as Amzy B, is a Nigerian Musician, singer-songwriter and producer. He is known for his 2023 debut EP "Jekajo", which debuted on several Nigerian new music charts. He founded Nigeria's first recording studio dedicated exclusively to independent artists, affiliating it with his record label, TMSN Records. [1]

Early life

Born on November 23, 1996, in Lagos, Nigeria, Babatunde began his musical journey during his teenage years, collaborating with childhood friends to create music. [2]

Education

He attended primary school in Agege, Lagos, and secondary school at Saka Tinubu Memorial High School. He later pursued higher education at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology. [2] [3]

Career

On June 7, 2023, Amzy B released his five-track EP, "Jekajo". [4] Featuring guest appearances from Ajura, Areezy, Zichy, and Kay Klassick, the EP debuted on several Nigerian music charts. The title "Jekajo," which means "Let's Dance" in the Yoruba language, reflects Amzy B's Nigerian heritage and his childhood spent in Lagos. [5] [6] [7]

TMSN Records

In 2017, Amzy B co-founded TMSN Records with his mother, Mrs. Yemisi Z. Lawal, [8] to support independent artists. [9] In 2022, TMSN Records signed Kaylex and initiated a collaboration between Popular Nigerian artist Terry Apala, Amzy B, and Kaylex. [10] [11] In an interview with Daily Trust, Amzy B stated "We will not stop looking for new talents to nurture into global stars, For us, this is one of the best ways we can contribute towards the growth of entertainment development in Nigeria and the world at large". [11] In 2021, the label signed four additional artists: Kayklassic, GOE Buzzbaryn, AY Bandit, and Chaze TRG. [10] [12]
