Ana Maria Teixeira Maciel (born 18 November 1987) is a retired Brazilian rhythmic gymnast. [1] She is a three time Pan American Games gold medalist.
Ana Maria took up gymnastics, both artistic and rhythmic, at age seven as her mother enrolled her in both sports in her native Londrina. She later choose to focus on rhythmic as she was afraid of the apparatuses in artistic gymnastics. [2] In 1998 she was the runner up at the Brazilian Championships in the children category. [2]
In 2000 she became the national All-Around champion. [2] Three years later Ana Maria was part of the group that repeated the gold medal in the All-Around at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, adding another two in the finals with 5 ribbons and 3 hoops & 2 balls. [3] That year she also competed in the 2003 World Championships in Budapest, where the group was 9th in the All-Around. [4]
Maciel also competed at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens along Larissa Barata, Dayane Camilo, Fernanda Cavalieri, Tayanne Mantovaneli and Jeniffer Oliveira. [5] They were 7th in qualification, in the final Camilo ended up dropping the ribbon during one of the performances dooming the group to finish 8th. [6]
Ana Maria retired after the Olympics in 2004 at age 17. [7]
Angélica Cristine Kvieczynski, better known as Angélica Kvieczynski, is an individual Brazilian rhythmic gymnast. She competed in the 2007 Pan American Games, won a silver medal and three bronze medals in the 2011 Pan American Games, won six gold medals in the 2010 South American Games and won the Prêmio Brasil Olímpico once. Now she is a coach for junior gymnasts.
Mosiah Rodrigues is a Brazilian male artistic gymnast, representing his nation at international competitions. He participated at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He also competed at world championships, including the 2005 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne, Australia, and at the Pan-American Games.
Bárbara de Kassia Godoy Domingos is a Brazilian individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2023 Pan American Championships all-around champion, the 2023 Thiais Grand Prix ribbon gold medalist, and the first Brazilian rhythmic gymnast to qualify for the individual all-around final at the World Championships. She competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the rhythmic individual all-around and qualified for the final.
Nicole Pircio Nunes Duarte is a Brazilian rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2021 and 2022 Pan American group all-around champion and the 2019 Pan American Games 3 hoops + 4 clubs champion. She won three gold medals at the 2018 South American Games and at the 2019 South American Championships, and she won four gold medals at the 2022 South American Championships. She represented Brazil at the 2020 Summer Olympics and finished twelfth in qualifications for the group all-around.
