Anaiyur is a locality situated in the southern part of Sivakasi city in the Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu, India. It was formerly a panchayat town under the Sivakasi block before the city underwent a significant transformation. Anaiyur is one of the regions that is set to be integrated into the newly expanded Sivakasi Municipal Corporation, which aims to provide enhanced civic services and infrastructure to the area.
Historically, Anaiyur was known for its rural setting but has experienced considerable growth due to its proximity to the industrial heart of Sivakasi. The town is home to several residential areas, including Reserveline, Anaiyur, Indira Nagar, and Bharathi Nagar, each contributing to the area's increasing urbanization. Anaiyur, once a quiet rural hub, is now becoming an important part of the Sivakasi municipal expansion, playing a key role in the city's development.
The area also houses the Sivakasi Industrial Estate, which has been a major catalyst in the growth of Sivakasi as a significant industrial center, especially known for its match and fireworks manufacturing industries. The town's rich history and ongoing growth make it an essential part of the evolving Sivakasi city.
As of 2001 [update] India census, [1] Anaiyur had a population of 19,847. Males constituted 50% of the population and females 50%.
Anaiyur is situated in the main area of Sivakasi-Srivilliputhur Highway (state highways-42 SH 42). There is no bus stand in Anaiyur. The nearest bus stand is Sivakasi bus stand located at a distance of 5.7 km. Another bus stand is located at Thiruthangal at a distance of 7 to 8 km.
