The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), formerly known as Action Congress (AC), was a Nigerian political party formed via the merger of a faction of Alliance for Democracy, the Justice Party, the Advance Congress of Democrats, and several other minor political parties in September 2006. The party controlled Lagos. The Party had strong presence in the South West, Mid-West and North Central Regions. Lagos, Edo, Ekiti, Kogi, Ondo, Bauchi, Plateau, Niger, Adamawa, Oyo and Osun states by far accounts for majority of the party's presence and discernible power base.
Joy Emodi was elected Senator for the Anambra North constituency of Anambra State, Nigeria, taking office on 20 February 2005 after the election of Emmanuel Anosike was annulled. She was re-elected in 2007, but her second election was appealed by Alphonsus Obi Igbeke, the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) candidate. After protracted hearings, Igbeke was declared the winner on 25 March 2010.

Emmanuel Nnamdi Uba, or Andy Uba, is a Nigerian politician and a former Senator from the Anambra South Senatorial District of Anambra State. Uba also won the 2007 Anambra State gubernatorial elections on the platform of the People's Democratic Party but was declared unduly elected by the Supreme Court of Nigeria after one month. He defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress in February 2017, the leadership crises engulfing the former ruling party PDP may have motivated his decision. She was confirmed to the ministerial post and sworn in on July 2, 2011 and was deployed to the Ministry of Aviation on July 4, 2011. Oseloka Henry Obaze (OHO) is a native of Ochuche Umuodu in Anambra State, Nigeria. He is a Nigerian diplomat, politician, author and a retired United Nations official who served the organization as an international civil servant between 1991 and 2012. Prior to working at the United Nations, he worked as a career Foreign Service Officer (FSO) in the Nigerian Diplomatic Service from 1982-1991. Following his retirement from the United Nations, Oseloka H. Obaze served as Secretary to the State Government of Anambra State, Nigeria from June, 2012 till June, 2015 under former Governor Peter Obi and former Governor Willie Obiano.
The Young Progressives Party (YPP) is a social-democratic political party in Nigeria. The party was created to challenge the two major contemporary parties in Nigeria, the People's Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress. In its manifesto, it called for concerted efforts to improve welfare, fight for social justice and provide equality of opportunities for all citizens in Nigeria. The Young Progressive Party won one seat out of the 109 seats in the Nigerian Senate during the 2019 general elections.

While Victor Umeh representing Anambra Central won on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
The 2011 Nigerian Senate election in Anambra State was held on April 9, 2011, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Anambra State. John Emeka Okey representing Anambra North, and Andy Ubah representing Anambra South both won on the platform of the People's Democratic Party. While Chris Ngige representing Anambra Central won on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria.
