Anandavana Agadi is located near the city of Haveri, India adjacent to Agadi village. [1] in the southern state of Karnataka, India. Here, Shri Sheshachala Swamy lived.[ citation needed ]

Facilities

There is a Shiva temple in the village [1] and an annual fair is organised. Within the campus, a Sanskrit school is run by the present Swamiji - Shri Chidambaramurthy Chakravarthy. A monthly Kannada magazine by the name of Sadhbhoda Chandrike has been printed and published in Anandavana since the early 1900s. There is an offset printing press for the purpose of printing Sadhbodha Chandrike. Shri Sheshala Sadguru High School is run by the mutt for the rural students and is aided by the government of Karnataka. It has also run a free health care camp on the first and third Sunday of every month since 2000. Annually the jayanthi (Birthday) of Shri Sheshala Sadguru is celebrated for over a week when thousands of people gather to pull the chariot on the 5th(Panchami) day of the Fair.

Awards

Sadhbodha Chandrike has been conferred the prestigious state award "Karnataka Rajyotsava Prashasti" for the year 2005 in the field of Literature by the Government of Karnataka.[ citation needed ] Also the "Karnataka Media Academy Award" has been conferred for service rendered to the development of Kannada literature and culture.[ citation needed ]

Kokkare Hosahalli Shekh Haider Nissar Ahmed was an Indian poet and writer in the Kannada language. He became a household name for his work Nityotsava, which is a poem about Karnataka, a piece he composed after seeing Jog falls. He has numerous poems, translations and children's books to his credit. He is known for using simple words that resonate deeply with the public in his literary work.

Vartha Bharati also spelled as Vartha Bharathi is a Kannada daily News paper published simultaneously from Bangalore, Mangalore and Shimoga. It was launched in August 2003. It is one of nine state level Kannada Daily newspapers of Karnataka, as recognized by the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Karnataka.

Saalumarada Thimmakka, also known as Aala Marada Thimmakka, is an Indian environmentalist from the state of Karnataka, noted for her work in planting and tending to 385 banyan trees along a 45-kilometre (28 mi) stretch of highway between Hulikal and Kudur. She has also planted nearly 8000 other trees. With the support of her husband, she found solace in planting trees.

The Pampa Award is a literary award in the Indian state of Karnataka. The award was established in 1987 by the government of Karnataka. It is the highest literary honor conferred by the Department of Kannada and Culture, Government of Karnataka State, and recognises works written in the Kannada language.

Gopalkrishna Pandurang Nayak, known as Gaonkar, from Torke village was a drama writer in the Kannada language. In 2000, he was awarded Karnataka Sahitya Akademi for his work in drama writings. He was also awarded Yakshgana Sahitya Prashasti.

Devegowda Javaregowda, known as De Ja Gou or simply Javaregowda, was an Indian Kannada writer, folklorist, researcher, scholar and academic. He was disciple of authors T.N. Srikantaiah and Kuvempu. His literary career spans over decades in which he wrote over thirty-four biographies in Kannada language and other works including children's literature. He campaigned for the promotion of Kannada language. He had received Pampa Prashasti (1998), Padma Shri (2001) and the Karnataka Ratna (2008) awards for his contributions in literature and education. He became a centenarian in 2015 and died on 30 May 2016.

Tulsi Gowda is an Indian environmentalist from Honnali village, Ankola taluk in Karnataka state. She has planted more than 30,000 saplings and looks after the nurseries of the Forest Department. Her work has been honoured by the Government of India and other organisations. In 2021, the Government of India awarded her the Padma Shri, the country's fourth highest civilian award. She is known as the "Encyclopedia of the Forest" for her ability to recognise the mother tree of any species of tree.
