Andertons Music Co. (officially L. Anderton (UK) Ltd) [1] is a musical instrument retailer based in Guildford, Surrey, England. Its online store is one of the United Kingdom's top 150 e-commerce sites, with sales approaching $40 million per year. [2] It is widely known among guitarists for video demonstrations by owner Lee "The Captain" Anderton, Rob Chapman, [3] and Peter Honoré a.k.a. "Danish Pete". [4] It also partly owns Chapman Guitars [5] alongside Monkey Lord Ltd, which is in turn owned by Rob Chapman and his wife Natassja Chapman. Lee Anderton is also an investor in multiple musical equipment brands, including Victory Amplification, EastCoast Guitars, Burns Guitars London, Landlord FX, and Ordo. [6] [7] [8]

Andertons Music Co. is a family-owned business founded in 1964 by father and son, Harry and Peter Anderton. [9] Lee Anderton is the son of Peter Anderton.

YouTube

Andertons opened its primary YouTube channel in 2007, originally with the goal of highlighting product sales and featuring product reviews. The channel currently has around 844,000 subscribers (July 2023). [10]

In addition to product reviews and demos, Andertons has featured interviews with many notable guitarists and guitar makers, including Mick Thomson, Joe Bonamassa, Russ Parrish, Paul Gilbert, Guthrie Govan, Albert Lee, John Petrucci, Paul Reed Smith, Mary Spender, [11] Nita Strauss, Walter Trout, Tommy Emmanuel and Steve Vai. Leland Bruce Sklar is an American bassist and session musician. Sklar rose to prominence as a member of James Taylor's backing band, which coalesced into a group in its own right, The Section. This group of musicians so frequently supported many of the artists on Asylum Records, both on stage and in the studio, that they became known as Asylum's de facto house band. Those artists would become the standard bearers of the singer-songwriter era in the 1970s. Since then, Sklar has recorded and toured with artists such as James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, Phil Collins, Toto, Lyle Lovett and others. As a group member, session player, or touring musician, Sklar has lent his talents to well over 2,000 albums. In addition, he has contributed to many motion picture and television show soundtracks. Since 2018, Sklar has been the bassist for The Immediate Family, a group reuniting lifelong friends and most of his former bandmates from The Section.
