AndreaMosaic is freeware [1] graphic art software developed and published by Andrea Denzler and that specializes in the creation of photographic mosaic images.

History

The first public release was version 3.12 in 2003. [2] [3] In the following years new features where added once or twice a year. A completely new interface came out of beta testing with version 3.3 in September, 2008. [4]

Features

AndreaMosaic includes several features [5] [6] for creating mosaics. [1] [7] Together with the standard parameters necessary to create a mosaic the following features are available:

Versions

As of version 3.32 AndreaMosaic is available in Standard and Professional versions. Both share the same features but the Professional version exceeds the Standard version's limits of 200 megapixels and 30,000 tiles. AndreaMosaic is supported on Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 2003 and also on Mac OS X and Linux distributions through the free Wine software. The software can be installed using the standard installer or through a fully portable no-install archive. A collection of 500 sample images [8] is freely available.

License

The license allows free use of the software, including commercial use, but it requires that every published or printed photographic mosaic, or derivative work, includes a reference to AndreaMosaic. Also the publishing or display to a large audience of a particular mosaic should be added to the public list of artworks created with AndreaMosaic.

Although the software has proved popular [9] and has some powerful features, [5] it has been criticised for not being user-friendly [5] with a confusing [1] and dull [8] interface featuring atrocious grammar [6] but providing an excellent user guide [6] and producing excellent results. [8]

Windows 7 is an operating system that was produced by Microsoft and released as part of the Windows NT family of operating systems. It was released to manufacturing on July 22, 2009, and became generally available on October 22, 2009. It is the successor to Windows Vista, released nearly three years earlier, and it was Microsoft's operating system for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, tablet PCs and media center PCs until it was succeeded by Windows 8 on October 26, 2012. By 2013, Windows 7 RTM provided security updates or fixes, but installation of Service Pack 1 is required for users to receive updates and support after April 9, 2013. Windows 7's server counterpart, Windows Server 2008 R2, was released at the same time. The last supported version of Windows based on this operating system was released on July 1, 2011, entitled Windows Embedded POSReady 7. On January 12, 2016, Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer versions prior to Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7. Extended support ended on January 14, 2020, over ten years after the release of Windows 7, after which the operating system ceased receiving further support or security updates to most users. A support program is currently available for enterprises, providing security updates for Windows 7 up to four years since the official end of life. However, Windows Embedded POSReady 7, the last Windows 7 variant, continued to provide security updates until October 2021.

Browser wars

A browser war is competition for dominance in the usage share of web browsers. The "First Browser War" during the late 1990s pitted Microsoft's Internet Explorer against Netscape's Navigator. Browser wars continued with the decline of Internet Explorer's market share and the popularity of other browsers including Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge and Opera.

The backups are in a proprietary format which saves using a .tib filename format. Acronis was launched in 2003 and in December 2014 claimed to have over 5 million consumer and 500,000 businesses users.

Photosynth

Photosynth is a discontinued app and service from Microsoft Live Labs and the University of Washington that analyzes digital photographs and generates a three-dimensional model of the photos and a point cloud of a photographed object. Pattern recognition components compare portions of images to create points, which are then compared to convert the image into a model. Users are able to view and generate their own models using a software tool available for download at the Photosynth website.

AVG PC TuneUp

AVG TuneUp, previously called AVG PC Tuneup, and TuneUp Utilities, is a utility software suite for Microsoft Windows designed to help manage, maintain, optimize, configure, and troubleshoot a computer system. It was produced and developed by TuneUp Software GmbH. TuneUp Software was headquartered in Darmstadt, Germany, and co-founded by Tibor Schiemann and Christoph Laumann in 1997. In 2011, AVG Technologies acquired TuneUp Software. AVG was then acquired by Avast in 2016.

Windows 8, a major release of the Microsoft Windows operating system, was available in four different editions: Windows 8 (Core), Pro, Enterprise, and RT. Only Windows 8 (Core) and Pro were widely available at retailers. The other editions focus on other markets, such as embedded systems or enterprise. All editions except RT support 32-bit IA-32 CPUs and x64 CPUs.

Microsoft Photos

Microsoft Photos is Microsoft's modern image organizer, graphics editor, and video editor. It was first included in Windows 8 as a functional replacement for Windows Photo Viewer. Photos has Microsoft Sway integration and can use selected photos as a source for creating a Sway project. Users can also upload photos to OneDrive, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and GroupMe for sharing.
