Andrea Willi (born 25 May 1955) is a politician from Liechtenstein,first woman to hold the office of Minister of Foreign Affairs, [1] [2] in the government of Prime Minister Mario Frick,between 15 December 1993 and 5 April 2001. [3] She is member of Patriotic Union. [4] Willi earned a PhD in Philosophy at the University of Zurich.[ citation needed ]
She was born in Balzers and was also the Ambassador to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 1991 to 1993. [5]
Liechtenstein's foreign economic policy has been dominated by its customs union with Switzerland. This union also led to its independent membership in the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) in 1991. Unlike Switzerland however,Liechtenstein is part of the European Economic Area.
