The County Championship is the domestic first-class cricket competition in England and Wales and is organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). It became an official title in 1890. The competition consists of eighteen clubs named after,and representing historic counties,seventeen from England and one from Wales.
Andrew Richard Caddick is a former cricketer who played for England as a fast bowler in Tests and ODIs. At 6 ft 5in,Caddick was a successful bowler for England for a decade,taking 13 five-wicket hauls in Test matches. Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Gloucestershire. Founded in 1870,Gloucestershire have always been first-class and have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. The club played its first senior match in 1870 and W. G. Grace was their captain. The club plays home games at the Bristol County Ground in the Bishopston area of north Bristol. A number of games are also played at the Cheltenham Cricket Festival at the College Ground,Cheltenham and matches have also been played at the Gloucester cricket festival at The King's School,Gloucester.

Crossland was recognised as one of the fastest bowlers in county cricket,but critics generally believed that he threw,rather than bowled the ball,a practice illegal in cricket. Contemporaries suggest that,but for the suspicions over his bowling action,Crossland would have played Test cricket for England.
William Robert Simon Gidman is an English former professional cricketer who most recently played for Kent County Cricket Club as an all-rounder. He previously played county cricket for Durham,Gloucestershire and Nottinghamshire and spent a period on loan at Kent towards the end of the 2016 season before joining the club permanently in October 2016.
Danny Richard Briggs is an English cricketer who currently plays for Warwickshire County Cricket Club,previously playing for Hampshire County Cricket Club and Sussex County Cricket Club. Briggs is a right-handed batsman who bowls slow left-arm orthodox. He was born at Newport on the Isle of Wight and was educated on the island at Carisbrooke High School. Briggs is the first international player to be born on the Isle of Wight. Briggs made his debut for Hampshire County Cricket Club aged 18 in 2009,since his debut he has seen success in first-class and Twenty20 cricket. In 2011,he became the youngest English spin bowler to take 100 first-class wickets since Derek Underwood. He made his full international debut for England on 21 February 2012 against Pakistan in the fourth One Day International at the DSC Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
Somerset County Cricket Club competed in four domestic competitions during the 2009 English cricket season:the first division of the County Championship,the Friends Provident Trophy,the first division of the NatWest Pro40 League and the Twenty20 Cup. Through their performance in the Twenty20 Cup,the team qualified for the Champions League Twenty20. They enjoyed a successful season,but fell short of winning any competitions,prompting Director of Cricket Brian Rose to say "We've had enough of being cricket's nearly men."

The 2013 County Championship season,known as the LV= County Championship for sponsorship reasons,was the 114th cricket County Championship season. It was contested through two divisions:Division One and Division Two. Each team played all the others in their division both home and away. Durham were County Champions for the third time in six seasons. The top two teams from Division Two,Lancashire and Northamptonshire,gained promotion to the first division for the 2014 season,while the bottom two sides from Division One—Derbyshire and Surrey—were relegated to Division Two for 2014.
The 2018 County Championship,known as the 2018 Specsavers County Championship for sponsorship reasons,is the 119th cricket County Championship season. As in 2017,Division One has eight teams and Division Two has ten teams,with two teams relegated and two promoted at the end of the season.
The 2019 County Championship,known for sponsorship reasons as the 2019 Specsavers County Championship,was the 120th cricket County Championship season. As in 2018,Division One had eight teams and Division Two had ten teams. The first round of matches began on 5 April and the final round of matches ended on 26 September. Surrey were the defending champions. At the end of the 2019 season only one team was relegated with three promoted. Therefore,from 2020 onwards,Division One would feature ten teams and Division Two would feature eight.
