Andrew Baggarly (born c. 1975) [1] is an American journalist and author who has covered Major League Baseball teams since 1998 and the San Francisco Giants since 2004. [2] As of December 2017, he is the Giants beat writer for The Athletic . [3]
Baggarly is the author of A Band of Misfits: Tales of the 2010 San Francisco Giants (2011) and Giant Splash: Bondsian Blasts, World Series Parades, and Other Thrilling Moments by the Bay (2015). [4] [5]
In 1998, Baggarly began covering Major League Baseball for the San Bernardino County Sun . Baggarly later worked for the Riverside Press-Enterprise, where he served as a beat reporter covering the Anaheim Angels from 2000–01 and the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2002–03. [2]
Baggarly spent a combined eight years with the Oakland Tribune , from 2004–06, and the San Jose Mercury News , from 2006–12, covering Giants baseball as a beat writer. He also followed the Giants in his blog, "Extra Baggs," created for Bay Area News Group. In 2012, Baggarly joined Comcast SportsNet Bay Area as their "Giants Insider", covering the team on several different multiplatform outlets. [2] In late September 2014, Baggarly was reportedly boycotted by Giants players after he wrote about a clubhouse argument. [6] [7] Baggarly left CSN and returned to the Bay Area News Group in 2015. [8] In December 2017, Baggarly joined The Athletic as their Giants beat writer. [3]
Baggarly served as an official scorer for the 2007 MLB All-Star Game. [9] As a member of the Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA), he is a Major League Baseball Hall of Fame voter. [10]
Baggarly was born in Naperville, Illinois and grew up a Chicago Cubs fan in suburban Los Angeles. [11] [12] He graduated from Damien High School in La Verne, California, [13] and the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in 1997. He lives in Millbrae, California. [5]
As a child, Baggarly appeared on the Bill Rafferty-hosted version of Card Sharks in the 1980s. [14] [15] In 2012, he appeared on the game show Jeopardy! , becoming a three-time champion. [16] [17]

Bruce Douglas Bochy is an American professional baseball manager and former player who is the manager of the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). During his playing career, Bochy was a catcher for the Houston Astros, New York Mets, and San Diego Padres. After retiring as a player, Bochy managed the Padres for 12 seasons, from 1995 to 2006, and the San Francisco Giants for 13 seasons, from 2007 to 2019. As manager, Bochy led the Giants to three World Series championships, the Padres to one World Series appearance, and the Rangers to the franchise's first World Series championship in his first season with the club. He is one of only three managers to win a World Series championship in both leagues, joining Sparky Anderson and Tony LaRussa as the others. Bochy is the 11th manager in MLB history to achieve 2,000 wins.
Ronald Allan Wotus is an American retired professional baseball player and coach. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a shortstop and second baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and served as third base coach for the San Francisco Giants. He was drafted in the 16th round of the 1979 Major League Baseball Draft by the Pirates, and made his MLB debut in 1983. He also served as bench coach for the Giants from 1999–2017.
Timothy Leroy Lincecum, nicknamed "the Freak", "the Franchise", "the Freaky Franchise", and "Big Time Timmy Jim", is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Angels (2016). A two-time Cy Young Award winner, Lincecum helped the Giants win three World Series championships from 2010 through 2014.
The Willie Mac Award is named in honor of Willie McCovey. It has been presented annually since 1980 to the most inspirational player on the San Francisco Giants, as voted upon by Giants players, coaches, training staff, and more recently, Giants fans. McCovey personally presented the winner with the award in a pregame ceremony at AT&T Park near the conclusion of each season until his death on October 31, 2018.

Gerald Dempsey "Buster" Posey III is an American former professional baseball catcher. He spent his entire twelve-year Major League Baseball (MLB) career with the San Francisco Giants, from 2009 until his retirement at the conclusion of the 2021 season. With Comcast, she worked with Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic in the Washington D.C. region, Comcast SportsNet Houston, and eventually NBC Sports Bay Area.
Alyssa Michelle Nakken is an American professional baseball coach for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB). She is the first full-time female coach in MLB history, and the first to coach on the field during a major league game. In 2014 she was an analytical intern for the San Francisco Giants during the postseason, winning a World Series ring. She attended California State University, Sacramento, where she played college softball.
