The UK Independence Party is a Eurosceptic,right-wing populist political party in the United Kingdom. The party reached its greatest level of success in the mid-2010s,when it gained two members of parliament and was the largest party representing the UK in the European Parliament. The party is currently led by Nick Tenconi.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) is a political party in the United Kingdom,established in 1990. The current party traces its origin to the Social Democratic Party,which was formed in 1981 by a group of dissident Labour Party Members of Parliament (MPs) and former Cabinet members Roy Jenkins,David Owen,Bill Rodgers and Shirley Williams,who became known as the Gang of Four. The original SDP merged with the Liberal Party in 1988 to form the Liberal Democrats,but Owen,two other MPs and a minority of party activists formed a breakaway group also called the Social Democratic Party immediately afterwards. That continuing party dissolved itself in the aftermath of a by-election in Bootle,in which the party's candidate received fewer votes than Screaming Lord Sutch's Official Monster Raving Loony Party. However,some SDP activists met and voted to continue the party in defiance of its National Executive,leading to the creation in 1990 of the current Social Democratic Party under the leadership of the candidate who lost that by-election. The party has been led since 2018 by William Clouston.
Libertarianism in the United Kingdom can either refer to a political movement synonymous with anarchism,left-libertarianism and libertarian socialism,or to a political movement concerned with the pursuit of propertarian right-libertarian ideals in the United Kingdom which emerged and became more prominent in British politics after the 1980s neoliberalism and the economic liberalism of the premiership of Margaret Thatcher,albeit not as prominent as libertarianism in the United States in the 1970s and the presidency of Republican Ronald Reagan during the 1980s.
On 15 December 2011,a by-election was held for the UK House of Commons constituency of Feltham and Heston in the London Borough of Hounslow. The by-election was caused by the death of its Member of Parliament Alan Keen. The Labour Party candidate,Seema Malhotra,held the seat.

He was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for North West England from 2014 until 2019. From 2014 he was a UKIP MEP but resigned to become an Independent MEP in October 2016 following his opposition to the party's overly negative policy on immigration. He remained independent until July 2019.

The inaugural Liverpool City Region mayoral election was held on 4 May 2017 to elect the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and won by Steve Rotheram. Subsequent elections were planned for May 2020 but were postponed until May 2021 due to the covid pandemic with subsequent elections due every four years. The 2021 London Assembly election was held on 6 May 2021 to elect the members of the London Assembly,alongside the 2021 London mayoral election. The mayoral and Assembly elections were originally to be held on 7 May 2020,but on 13 March 2020 it was announced the election would be postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the sixth election since the Assembly was established in 2000. Due to the previous term being extended to 5 years,those elected would only serve a three-year term until the next election in 2024. The election was held on the same day in 2021 as other elections in the UK;the UK local elections,Scottish Parliament election,and Welsh Senedd election.
There was a by-election in the constituency of Stoke-on-Trent Central on 23 February 2017 following the resignation of Labour's Tristram Hunt,who became director of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. It took place alongside a by-election in Copeland.
Charalambos "Bambos" Charalambous is a British Labour politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Southgate and Wood Green,previously Enfield Southgate,since 2017. While in opposition he held a series of shadow ministry posts. He was suspended from the Labour Party during an investigation into a complaint against him between June 2023 and April 2024,but the complaint was not upheld.
