Andrew Claude Ridley (born 2 August 1968) is an Australian former cricketer.
Ridley was born at Sydney in August 1968. He studied at the University of Sydney,before undertaking his post-graduate studies in England at Exeter College,Oxford. [1] While studying at Oxford,he made his debut in first-class cricket for Oxford University against Durham at Oxford in 1994. He played first-class cricket for Oxford until 1996,making twenty appearances. [2] Playing as a batsman,he scored 857 runs at an average of 31.74. He made two centuries,with a high score of 155 against Cambridge University in The University Match of 1996. [3] [4] In addition to playing first-class cricket while at Oxford,he also made four List A one-day appearances for the British Universities cricket team in the 1996 Benson &Hedges Cup, [5] scoring 152 runs at an average of 38.00,with a high score of 58. [6]
Lionel Charles Hamilton Palairet was an English amateur cricketer who played for Somerset and Oxford University. A graceful right-handed batsman,he was selected to play Test cricket for England twice in 1902. Contemporaries judged Palairet to have one of the most attractive batting styles of the period. His obituary in The Times described him as "the most beautiful batsman of all time". An unwillingness to tour during the English winter limited Palairet's Test appearances;contemporaries believed he deserved more Test caps.
Arthur James Ledger Hill was an English cricketer and played Test cricket for England in 1896. In first-class cricket,he began his career playing for Cambridge University while studying at Jesus College,Cambridge. He would play the majority of his first-class cricket for Hampshire,for whom he made 161 appearances between 1895 and 1921. Early in his career,Hill was a "useful fast bowler" and would take 305 first-class wickets during his career,the majority of which came prior to 1900. As a batsman,he scored over 10,000 runs in first-class cricket,recording nineteen centuries. He was notable for scoring the first-ever first-class century in India,which he made touring with Lord Hawke's XI in January 1893. His sporting endeavours also extended to rugby union and field hockey,with him representing Hampshire in both.
James Daniel 'Dan' Piachaud is a former Sri Lankan first-class cricketer. Piachaud studied in England at the University of Oxford,where he made 52 appearances in first-class cricket —the joint-highest amount —and took nearly 150 wickets as an off break bowler. He also played county cricket for Hampshire and first-class cricket for Ceylon.

Arthur William Ridley was an English first-class cricketer. An all-rounder,he was considered one of the finest and last proponents of underam 'lob' bowling. His first-class career began with Oxford University while he was a student at Christ Church,Oxford. He would play for a number of teams between 1872 and 1885,including Hampshire,the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and Middlesex. In 96 first-class appaearances he scored 3,150 runs as a batsman,while with his lob bowling he took 224 wickets,claiming nineteen five wicket hauls. Outside of cricket,Ridley was a brewery director;this commitment had the effect of restricting his availability to play first-class cricket with greater regularity.
